Broncos WRs Fantasy Outlooks: Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr.

Fantasy analysis of Denver Broncos WRs Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. for 2025, including ADP concerns, target share projections, and breakout potential.

The Denver Broncos’ receiving corps presents one of fantasy football’s most intriguing puzzles heading into the 2025 season. With veteran Courtland Sutton anchoring the group as the established WR1, questions swirl around his ceiling at age 30 and whether emerging talents like Marvin Mims Jr. can finally break through.

Courtland Sutton Fantasy Outlook

The Broncos’ WR1 is a hard player to quantify right now. Are we betting on a year-seven breakout that’s about to turn 30? That’s not entirely fair for Sutton, who still hauled in 10 touchdowns with Russell Wilson in 2023, and initially broke out in 2019 with Drew Lock and Joe Flacco at QB. Since then, he’s dealt with injuries, bad QBs, and Nathaniel Hackett.

Sutton isn’t an elite receiver, so he couldn’t quite work through the circumstances the Broncos have put him through, but he’s been quite productive when the situation has been at least decent, and he’s clearly beloved by QB Bo Nix and HC Sean Payton. Denver added several receivers over the past two seasons, creating a mix of young talent and TE Evan Engram, so there is some concern about his potential workload.

I’d say those concerns are valid, especially at his WR22 ADP. It’s a touch too high for me when true upside players like Xavier Worthy, George Pickens, and DJ Moore are going around him. However, I don’t think his status as the team’s WR1 is truly in danger. Mims and Troy Franklin do not threaten Sutton’s role, and the only other big body receiver here, Engram, is also more of a finesse player.

With 17 touchdowns over the past two seasons and two different QBs, this production doesn’t happen by accident. But I do struggle to see the pure target share that would elevate him to a fantasy WR1. I go back and forth with Sutton — I’m not avoiding him, but I typically won’t get him unless he slides a bit either.

Marvin Mims Jr. Fantasy Outlook

The Broncos are another ambiguous receiving corps you should be targeting. Behind Sutton, plenty of targets are up for grabs. Mims should be the first up after him, entering year three as a former second-round pick that HC Sean Payton made a point to trade up for in his first draft in Denver.

Thus far, Mims has had underwhelming returns. Just 377 yards as a rookie, and 503 last year. He’s settled into a field-stretcher role with designed touches as well, but he hasn’t developed into a full-time true receiver yet. There are signs that it’s starting to come together, like scoring six times over the last seven weeks, or going over 100 yards receiving twice in the same time span. This is a player who could have a real impact if he manages to take another step forward.

However, his role still might not be ideal for fantasy. He’s an efficiency monster when he produces, but leaves empty calories when he doesn’t. There are a lot of mouths to feed here, and if the defense plays up to expectations, they may not need to pass much either. At WR57, he’s borderline draftable, so he’s worth a shot if you need a sparkplug receiver for depth.
