Elite 2027 RB Kemon Spell Draws Backlash After Listing Schools That Could Flip His Penn State Commitment

Kemon Spell ranks among the top RBs in the 2027 recruiting class. He committed to Penn State but has since opened the door for other schools.

Kemon Spell, a consensus five-star running back recruit, is having second thoughts about playing for Penn State in 2027. The development has excited multiple fan bases, while Penn State’s is upset that Spell could spurn them after believing he was committed. Not only is he flirting with other schools, but he has also publicized a list of programs that could win him over.

Fans React As Kemon Spell Lists Possible Landing Spots

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Spell has six schools on his list of possible landing spots: Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Michigan. Spell is considered the top running back prospect in the country, so the competition to land him will be fierce.

This development has sent college football fans into a tizzy.

One fan, presumably an Ohio State supporter, wrote, “If I were Penn State, I would move on. Why waste time on a guy that clearly isn’t committed?”

Another fan mocked Spell’s pledge to Penn State, saying, “Lmao? That man’s not ‘committed.'”

One Penn State fan was blunt about no longer wanting Spell, posting, “Not Penn State character, let him go. If I was Franklin, i would tell him he is no longer welcome and best of luck.”

Another fan reiterated Spell’s non-committal: “So he’s not committed in the slightest.”

Meanwhile, another asked rhetorically, “What’s the point of committing???”

One fan expressed  surprise at how devalued a commitment has become in college football, writing, “I mean I’ve gotten to the point over the last couple years where seeing someone ‘commit’ to my team barely elicits an eyebrow raise, but this is an insane new level.”

Still, another fan pointed out the financial aspect, saying, “Looks like dude is committed to whoever wrote the biggest check lmao.”

And finally, one fan said what many are thinking, “The word commitment has lost all meaning in CFB.”

Now that Spell has made his intentions known, the door is open for universities to start a bidding war. Whether Penn State will take part remains to be seen, but Spell is proving that players now have far more influence over their college careers than they did in previous decades.

Now, he gets a chance to spell out where he will play.
