Would Rams Star Puka Nacua Rather Win a Super Bowl or Hang Out With Lakers Star LeBron James?

Puka Nacua was recently asked whether he'd rather win a Super Bowl or hang out with his idol LeBron James, and it wasn't an easy decision.

Puka Nacua came into the league as a fifth-round pick and was an immediate revelation for the Los Angeles Rams. An incredible rookie year saw him establish himself as one of the premier receiving threats in the NFL, a distinction he continues to hold.

Entering the 2025 NFL season, the Rams’ goal is clear: win the Super Bowl. But if given the choice between winning a Super Bowl or hanging out with his idol Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James for one week, which would Nacua choose?

Puka Nacua Makes Tough Decision: Super Bowl or LeBron James?

Coming into the league, Nacua had an excellent first year, as he set the all-time rookie record for receptions in a game with 15 and receiving yards in a year with 1,486 yards while also adding six touchdowns for good measure.

But for a Rams team just three years removed from winning the Super Bowl, the team’s championship window is fast closing as Matthew Stafford approaches retirement. As a result, the focus for the entire franchise has been on getting back to the big game.

But during a recent interview with Overtime, Nacua seemed to struggle when asked if he would choose to spend a week with the future Hall of Famer or win the Super Bowl.

“Wait, I have to win the Super Bowl,” Nacua said, but he quickly added how much he loves James. He admitted he’d love to spend a week with the Lakers superstar.

“Oh my gosh, we could do so many things,” Nacua said. “We could pass it to Bronny (James’ son). It would be a fantastic time, I promise. That would be the best week of my life. I’m rebounding for LeBron. We’re hopping in the sauna.”

Nacua’s fandom for one of the greatest players of all time is no secret. When he first met James at a Lakers game back in February, his reaction went viral. At the time, he said, “I just met our Glorious King, the GOAT, LeBron James.”

As the two clicked a few pictures, he added, “It’s been an absolute honor to watch you play, and I hope I can make every Laker game possible because you make watching basketball so fun! Man, I just, I can’t stop smiling.”

Clearly, in the year-plus since, his fandom hasn’t gone down a bit. However, several aggregation accounts miscontrued Nacua’s words and said he would choose the hangout with James over winning a Super Bowl. This frustrated Rams president Kevin Demoff, who pointed out these pages’ habit of posting clips out of context to get more engagement.

“Did you listen to the actual answer or did you think writing something he didn’t say would get more engagement?” Demoff asked. “Now that you can’t post random training camp clips out of context to get engagement you’ve resorted to this?”

Nacua had the correct, team-first answer when asked this question, yet he’s still getting dragged online since his words were taken out of context.
