The NFL preseason has officially concluded, and teams are now shifting their focus to finalizing the 53-man roster, which must be done by 4 p.m. ET on August 26, 2025. Several players have already been informed they will be released before the season begins. However, much more work will be done over the next few days.
One position that teams typically don’t have to worry about is kicker, as there is minimal movement at the position from year to year. The 2025 season will mark the first year since 2011 that Justin Tucker, the most accurate kicker in NFL history, is not on a roster following allegations of sexual misconduct and a subsequent ten-week suspension. Arguably, the most famous player at the position for the past half-decade has left the throne up for grabs!
Who Will Start at Kicker for Each of the NFL’s 32 Franchises?
There are still plenty of accurate legs in the league, as three of the top-five most accurate kickers, Harrison Butker, Chris Boswell, and Daniel Carlson, remain rostered. Eddy Pineiro, who rounds out the top five, remains without a home following a solid season. Look at the starting kickers for each of the NFL’s 32 franchises.
While the kicker position is often undervalued, its importance cannot be overstated, as it can often be the difference between a win and a loss in the short term and a postseason position in the long term. Plenty of teams have simply retained their kicker from the previous season; however, there have also been notable changes at the position.

Most players listed have a secure job heading into the 2025 season. In fact, only ten of the league’s 32 teams currently roster a second kicker; however, that number will likely shrink significantly when 53-man rosters are finalized on Tuesday.
