Is Quinshon Judkins Playing Week 1? Latest Injury Update for the Cleveland Browns RB

Quinshon Judkins faces uncertainty with the Browns despite dropped charges. Explore his fantasy football outlook, injury status, and competition in Cleveland.

The Cleveland Browns’ backfield situation has become one of the most intriguing storylines heading into the season, with rookie Quinshon Judkins at the center of the drama. While his legal troubles appear behind him with charges dropped, the talented running back remains unsigned as the organization awaits the NFL’s investigation results.

This limbo has created significant uncertainty around his availability and role within Cleveland’s offensive scheme. The Browns’ cautious approach suggests they’re preparing for multiple scenarios, including potential league discipline that could still impact Judkins’ early-season contributions.

What Is Quinshon Judkins’ Injury?

Despite his legal case not moving forward, Judkins remains unsigned as the Browns appear to be waiting for the NFL to complete its investigation into the charges of domestic violence, suggesting the rookie may still face discipline.

Jerome Ford is the projected starter, with rookie Dylan Sampson ready to carve out an increasing role as the season progresses.

With charges dropped, Cleveland rookie Quinshon Judkins is back to being a fantasy-relevant rookie with Top-24 upside. However, just because charges were not pressed doesn’t mean that the league can’t choose to institute its own discipline. The issue here is that he’s playing for one of the worst teams in the NFL, the Browns.

Fantasy football managers find themselves in an uncertain position when evaluating Judkins’ potential impact. The former Ole Miss standout possesses legitimate Top-24 upside, but his value is complicated by Cleveland’s projected struggles and crowded backfield competition.

Ford has emerged as the likely starter, while fellow rookie Sampson is positioned to claim an expanding role as the season unfolds. With quarterback uncertainty looming and the Browns’ offensive outlook appearing grim, Judkins faces an uphill battle to establish himself as a reliable fantasy asset despite his considerable talent.

Judkins’ Fantasy Football Outlook

The hope here is that Joe Flacco can retain the starting job. That would mean the Browns could possibly exceed expectations. Flacco has done it before, so we can’t put this past him. However, the more likely outcome is that Flacco will eventually be benched when the team gets off to a bad start, as they look to the future to see what they have in Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel.

Judkins would be in a low-scoring offense in that scenario, limiting his upside in all formats. There’s also the risk that the Browns mix in fellow rookie Sampson or veteran Ford–especially since Judkins missed a lot of valuable camp time. Considering these factors, I’m steering clear of Judkins this year.
