Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons is still waiting for a contract from owner-general manager Jerry Jones, but Jones had a rather interesting encounter with someone very close to Parsons.
Before the Cowboys’ last preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, Aug. 22, Jones ran into Parsons’ mother Sherese before kickoff.
What Did Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Do?
While no one actually knows what Jones might have said to Parsons’ mother, it appears that the meetup was friendly. Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram shared the photo on X on Friday night.

The photo was taken by Terrence Parsons Jr., Micah’s brother, and picked up by Harris. Micah was present for the Cowboys game. He was shown walking toward the Dallas locker room. When a fan reportedly said that Parsons should join the Falcons, he made a phone gesture with his right hand.
Parsons also was chomping down on some nachos as well. He didn’t stop walking to chat with the fan, either.
Parsons, Jones, and David Mulugheta, Parson’s agent, have been going around and around in trying to secure a new deal. Jones said that when Mulugheta received paperwork about a new deal, the talks broke down.
Jones was interviewed by Cowboys legend Michael Irvin and didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the situation. Jones told Irvin, “I am the cat that writes the check. Micah’s got three years left with the Cowboys. My job is managing the check, and Micah’s got to do the playing.”
What Did Terrence Parsons Say About Jones’ Comments?
Terrence, after hearing Jones’ comments, had his own thoughts, too. He headed out to X and wrote, “Jerry holds the upper hand but the agent is doing his job the market says at 26 he should be making more than Watt and Myles who are 30 lol simple math Jerry just tryna hold Micah to a number they discussed. At some point you just have to wanna get the deal done.”
When a deal might get done here is impossible to say. But Parsons appearing at the game might show that he still cares about playing for Dallas.
The contract standoff continues while a number of Cowboys players try to earn spots on the 53-man roster. The Cowboys and other NFL teams face the deadline for final roster cuts on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. Eastern.
