Micah Parsons Predicted As Trade Candidate for AFC Super Bowl Contender With Reputation of Taking ‘Big Swings’

Micah Parsons is being linked to an AFC Super Bowl contender, as speculation grows over a potential trade for the three-time All-Pro pass rusher.

As preseason and training camp wind down, the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys trading superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons is increasingly likely.

While there’s still a chance the relationship can be repaired and Parsons signs an extension with the Cowboys, a strong trade offer could lead to a blockbuster move. One analyst has predicted that an AFC Super Bowl contender could be the team to land the three-time All-Pro.

Analyst Links Micah Parsons to AFC Powerhouse in Potential Blockbuster Trade

While nearly every NFL team would have reason to inquire about Parsons, a few landing spots make more sense than others.

The Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Detroit Lions have all been mentioned as potential suitors. However, CBS Sports’ Jared Dubin pointed to the Baltimore Ravens as a possible fit, emphasizing that the franchise has never been shy about making bold moves for star players.

“But they’ve also shown in the past that they’re willing to take big swings for superstar players, and Parsons is as rare a superstar as there is in the league,” Dubin wrote.

The Ravens have been a perennial contender in the AFC ever since Lamar Jackson took over as the starting quarterback in 2019. However, they have failed to get over the hump, falling short in the playoffs year after year.

Dubin points out that pass rush isn’t necessarily Baltimore’s biggest need. However, it would be hard to pass up the opportunity to add a player as special as Parsons.

Parsons is about as good as they come off the edge. He’s racked up 52.5 sacks in four NFL seasons and has never gone through a season with fewer than 12. He’s a two-time first-team All-Pro, a one-time second-team All-Pro, and a four-time Pro Bowler.

If the Ravens were able to land Parsons, it would elevate an already stacked defense to far and away the best in the league. However, as Dubin notes, cap space would be a problem in making this deal since Baltimore has only $15 million available, which is the fifth-lowest mark in the league.

There are workarounds to that issue, such as Dubin’s idea of restructuring Jackson’s contract, but trading for and extending Parsons would still no doubt financially handcuff them down the line.

The Ravens are in their Super Bowl window with Jackson, and that window will only be open for a finite amount of time. Since Parsons would undoubtedly help in their Super Bowl chase, this is a move that makes sense for Baltimore.
