Week 3 of the NFL preseason isn’t always the most entertaining football to watch, but Jaxson Dart stayed hot for the New York Giants.
New York played the New England Patriots. Let’s take a look at how Dart performed.
Jaxson Dart Stays Hot in Giants’ Preseason Week 3 Game Against Patriots
Dart has performed well in every game this preseason. He went 12 of 19 for 154 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills. Then followed that going 14 of 16 for 137 yards and another score against the New York Jets.
Against New England, Dart led another touchdown drive and went six of 12 for 81 yards. Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden shouted out Dart in a recent tweet.

Dart threw a dime to third-year receiver Jalin Hyatt on the following drive, which was dropped. The rookie quarterback was confident in the pocket all night and got creative when he was forced to move around.

Later in the first quarter, Dart was leading another promising drive and picked up a first down after scrambling on a fourth-down play. However, while getting tackled, he fumbled and hit his head on the turf.
The officials sent him to the sideline to get checked out by the medical staff. On the next play, Jameis Winston came in and threw a touchdown to Hyatt. Dart’s night ended after the hit. He was evaluated for a concussion, but cleared the protocol.
The Giants traded back into the first round to select Dart 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was the second quarterback taken after the Tennessee Titans selected Cam Ward first overall.
Dart quietly crept up the quarterback rankings in the lead-up to the draft, after throwing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions at Ole Miss in 2024. New York traded its second and third-round picks to get Dart, so head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen have put a lot of faith in the rookie.
That decision has paid off so far, as Dart ended his first NFL preseason throwing for 372 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions while completing 68% of his passes. He also added 47 rushing yards.

Winston and Russell Wilson signed with New York before the draft, and while Wilson is projected to start Week 1, it’s a matter of time before Dart takes the reins. The Ole Miss product has Giants fans rightfully excited, and they’ve needed something to cheer for after the team went 3-14 last season.
