Taylor Townsend Shares Emotional Goodbye Message for Son Adyn Before Leaving for US Open

Taylor Townsend had an emotional goodbye message for her son ahead of her departure for the US Open.

Taylor Townsend recently shared an emotional moment as she said goodbye to her young son, Adyn Aubrey, before leaving for the 2025 US Open. This year’s Grand Slam tournament will take place from August 24 to September 7, 2025, on the outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

Townsend will also participate in the mixed doubles event at the US Open. She has teamed up with fellow American Ben Shelton, and they have received a wild card entry into the tournament.

How Did Taylor Townsend Say Goodbye to Her Son Adyn, Before Leaving for US Open 2025?

Townsend announced her pregnancy in October 2020 and welcomed her son, Adyn, in March 2021. She frequently shares photos and videos of her and her four-year-old’s special moments they spent on social media.

Recently, Townsend posted a video of herself saying goodbye to Adyn before heading out for the 2025 US Open.

“I am gonna miss you,” Townsend said.

“I am gonna miss you too, mommy,” Adyn replied.

​In the touching clip, Townsend encouraged Adyn to be “great” while she was away and reminded him to be “respectful,” “thankful,” and “grateful.” She also asked him to recite his daily affirmations and prayers.

“I want you to be really great while I am gone. Great in school, respectful, doing your best, being thankful, and grateful. Say your affirmations and say your prayers,” Townsend added.

Townsend most recently competed at the 2025 Cincinnati Open, where she participated in both singles and doubles. In singles, she received a wild card entry into the main draw and beat Danielle Collins and 13th seed Liudmila Samsonova, before losing to Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro in the third round.

Townsend partnered with Zhang Shuai for the doubles event, and they were seeded third. However, the pair lost to the team of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Samsonova in the opening round.

What Is Taylor Townsend’s Best Result at the US Open?

Townsend achieved her best result in the singles event at the US Open in 2019. That year, she earned her spot in the main draw of the Grand Slam by defeating Natalija Kostić, Verónica Cepede Royg, and Nina Stojanović during the qualifying rounds.

In the main draw, Townsend beat Kateryna Baindl, Simona Halep, and Sorana Cîrstea in the first three rounds, respectively. Her run came to an end in the fourth round when she lost to the eventual champion, 15th seed Bianca Andreescu.

Townsend’s best performance in women’s doubles event at Flushing Meadows came in 2022 when she partnered compatriot Caty McNally. They finished as runners-up after losing to the Czech duo of Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková in the final.

In mixed doubles, Townsend achieved her best result in 2024 when she teamed up with Donald Young. The pair reached the final before losing to the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori.
