With Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter now in the NFL, the Colorado Buffaloes face holes on offense both in talent and leadership.
If head coach Deion Sanders wants to continue building the Buffaloes into a top program, players will need to step up as leaders. Offensive tackle Jordan Seaton recently named those who are doing just that.
Jordan Seaton Names Key Leaders Taking Charge on Colorado’s Offense
Seaton is one of the top players on the Buffaloes as they head into the 2025 season. The former five-star recruit started all 13 games for Colorado in 2024 and was the team’s best player on the offensive line.
DNVR Sports interviewed Seaton at Colorado’s media day and asked which players are stepping up as leaders on offense.
The young offensive tackle named himself, fellow offensive lineman Zylon Crisler and, most importantly, transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter.
“For me right now, I can speak for the offense, Salter has been stepping up really good,” Seaton said. “[Zylon Crisler] is not really talker, but when he says his stuff, you listen, you know, and then me myself.”
Seaton is one of the team’s best players, so it makes sense that he would be a leader for Sanders’ offense in 2025. Crisler transferred from Illinois to Colorado this offseason and brings 28 starts over three seasons with the Fighting Illini. Given his experience, it also makes sense for him to step into a leadership role.
However, the most important player Seaton named was Salter, who transferred to the team from Liberty this offseason.
Salter is currently in a quarterback battle with true freshman and former five-star recruit Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis. As both a transfer and a redshirt senior, not being named the starter over a young player like Lewis could be discouraging.
According to Seaton, that is not the case. Despite competing for the starting job, Salter is stepping up as a leader, keeping a positive attitude and helping the Buffaloes’ offense come together during fall camp.
Salter brings a lot of college football experience to Colorado. He originally committed to and enrolled at Tennessee but entered the transfer portal before his freshman season and moved to Liberty. He played for the Flames from 2021 to 2024, taking over as their starter midway through his sophomore year.
He finished his career at Liberty with 5,889 passing yards, 56 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, while adding 2,006 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.

Despite Lewis’ commitment to Colorado, Salter took the chance and transferred to the Buffaloes, knowing he would likely face a quarterback battle entering his final college season.
Based on what Seaton says about his leadership approach, Salter should show Sanders and the coaching staff that he is ready to be the team’s starter. The Buffaloes will open their 2025 season with a Week 1 matchup against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
