Bo Nix linked up with the legendary New Orleans QB Drew Brees and picked his brain. Brees is statistically one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL and knows something about throwing a football. Nix was overjoyed with his experience with Brees, and his favorite part was not about any lessons Brees taught him about football.
Nix spoke about how present Brees was when spending time with Nix and how intentional he was in describing how he did things and how Nix could improve.
Bo Nix Meets Up with Drew Brees
Few quarterbacks have been more successful in recent history than Brees. When they met up, Nix had the opportunity to learn from him, and Nix made the most of it. He was very happy with how Brees treated him and even had a list of topics that he wanted to talk about with Nix. Nix’s favorite part, though, was sitting down and sharing meals with Brees.
“It was great. Just sitting down and having a few meals with him was the best part. Because I mean, you go out there and throw at some point, you know, we all throw it. That’s not why you go and hang out with a guy like that,” said Nix about his experience.

All NFL quarterbacks throw the ball every day at practice, but not all get the opportunity to get in the mind of one of the best of all time. Nix focused on the mental side of the game during his time with Brees. With his new insights, he can now be at an advantage and put these new ideas into practice after a very encouraging rookie season.
Brees is second all-time in career passing yards with 80,358 yards, second all-time in passing touchdowns with 571, and is seventh all-time in passer rating. He finds himself behind only Tom Brady in both passing yards and touchdowns. He’s a guy who commands a lot of respect across the league, and Nix made sure to soak it all in.
Nix helped take the Broncos back to the playoffs after a long drought. It had been a while in Denver and wasn’t looking quite promising for the Broncos, until Nix exceeded expectations alongside their dominant defense to shock the league and make the playoffs.
Now, the Broncos have their eyes set on dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, looking to end their nine-year reign as the division’s champion. It won’t be easy in a division with the Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers, who made the playoffs in 2024, and a revamped Las Vegas Raiders roster looking to make a statement after a poor season.
Nix finished third in the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024, and Denver will need him to take the next step if they want to compete with the best of the best in the AFC. The team will go as far as Nix can take them alongside their elite defense to limit the star-studded opposing offenses. The Broncos open the season against the Tennessee Titans as Nix looks to hit the ground running and show that last season wasn’t a fluke.
