Giants Rookie Cam Skattebo Brought to Tears After Receiving Special Gift and Advice From NFL Legend

As his rehab from hamstring injury continues, a gift and sage advice from a franchise legend brought New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo to tears.

The New York Giants are going through a major reset this offseason. With ownership getting testy about the lack of results since the days of Eli Manning, general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll had to respond with a smash-hit offseason. For the most part, their plan has been a success, with a new quarterback in place, both for the short and long term.

Add in a defensive line that might be the best in the entire league, and the pieces are starting to fall into place for New York. However, another area that the franchise was wholeheartedly excited about was the running back position, where rookie Cam Skattebo has already drawn rave reviews. But before his career as a Giant gets underway, the youngster got a heartwarming surprise from one of New York’s finest.

Rehabbing Cam Skattebo Receives Chin-Up From New York Giants Legend

During his time at Sacramento State, Skattebo proved that he had elite talent. However, it was a transfer to Arizona State that truly brought out the best in him. In his final year with the Sun Devils, the All-American had a performance for the ages.

On the ground, he recorded 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns, while showing off his dual-threat capabilities with an additional 605 yards through the air. As a result, he finished fifth in Heisman voting and earned a spot on the Giants’ roster with a fourth-round selection.

His career in New York is off to a slow start as he tweaked his hamstring in an injury that is going to require an MRI before an official diagnosis. Even as he battles his way back onto the gridiron, the rookie received a special gift from his franchise.

This year, Fanatics debuted “The Locker Room”, a documentary short where several top rookies were surprised with personal video messages and inscribed jerseys from some of the NFL’s retired legends.

In Skattebo’s case, it was Eddie George, who gave him the honor as one of the greatest running backs in franchise history. A Heisman Trophy winner, he accumulated over 10,000 yards and 65 touchdowns during his career that saw him earn four Pro Bowl nods.

In the video, George advised Skattebo to “begin the journey with the end in mind and you’ll be just fine.” As he received the jersey from the veteran with a message of luck on it, the Arizona State alum was visibly moved.

With his voice cracking, he revealed, “It means a lot just knowing how much he cares. Because coming from a great and somebody that has done it and knows what it takes. I know he’s there for me if I need it.”

For the rookie sensation, the first impression has already been solid with the Giants’ coaching staff. However, once he returns from injury, Skattebo is going to have to earn his spot back as the potential running back of the future in New York.
