Jets Predicted To Pull Off Blockbuster Trade for Havoc-Wreaking 3-Time All-Pro To Start Aaron Glenn Era With a Bang

The New York Jets have been listed as a potential landing spot for an All-Pro pass rusher that would give Aaron Glenn another defensive weapon.

Aaron Glenn was named the 22nd head coach in New York Jets franchise history. That was due in large part to his work as the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. Detroit saw its defense jump from being the worst unit in the league the season before his arrival to finishing as the seventh-ranked scoring defense in his final year.

It will mark the first head coaching gig at any level for the former cornerback, who spent the first eight years of his 15-year NFL career with the Jets after the franchise drafted him 12th overall in the 1994 NFL Draft. Glenn will have his work cut out for him as the Jets have not had a winning season since 2015 and have not reached the postseason since 2010.

While New York ranked fourth in the league in scoring defense as recently as 2022, they took a major step back last season as they finished just 20th in scoring defense. A recent prediction suggested that they could trade for Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons to add more talent to the unit.

Jets Predicted To Give Aaron Glenn Another Defensive Weapon by Landing Micah Parsons

Parsons entered the offseason with the hopes of negotiating a new contract; however, he reportedly has not received an offer from the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, and T.J. Watt have all signed new deals to reset the pass rusher market.

The three-time All-Pro appeared to want to remain in Dallas until Friday, when things took a turn. He took to social media to reveal that he had requested a trade.

Garrett Podell of CBS Sports listed the Jets as a potential fit, stating:

“A trade to the New York Giants is out of the question, but a trade to New York’s AFC team could make sense. The Jets just locked down two key pieces of their core this offseason by re-signing wide receiver Garrett Wilson and cornerback Sauce Gardner. Adding another young, elite talent in Parsons could be exactly what the Jets need to get their mojo back in Year 1 under new head coach Aaron Glenn.

“They have just the right amount of cap space to get the deal done, and reinforcing their defense to support a talented but inconsistent quarterback in Justin Fields would be reminiscent of the mold from the peak Rex Ryan years in 2009 and 2010.”

The Jets still have many of their pieces from 2022, when they were among the best defenses in the league. Adding a player like Parsons to the fold would certainly be a key step towards returning to that level of defensive play.
