There are victories, and then there are statements. The Minnesota Lynx delivered just that in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The Napheesa Collier-led squad dismantled the Aces in front of their own crowd in a jaw-dropping 111-58 demolition.
This wasn’t just another road win. With a 53-point margin of victory, the Lynx made WNBA history by recording the largest road victory in league history.
How Did the Minnesota Lynx Shatter WNBA History in Las Vegas?
For the entire game, Minnesota looked absolutely unstoppable. They lit up the Aces from deep, defended like their season depended on it, and executed their game plan with clinical precision. By the final buzzer, they had celebrated a remarkable record that will be talked about for years.
With their 53-point blowout victory, the Lynx broke the WNBA record for largest road win in league history. This historic performance surpassed the previous mark set by the Houston Comets in 1998.

The tone was set early. By the end of the first quarter, Minnesota had already stormed ahead 35-17, building momentum that would carry them throughout the night. Kayla McBride caught fire immediately, hitting eight 3-pointers in the first half alone, helping the team start a blistering 13-for-14 from beyond the arc.
McBride led the offensive explosion with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Jessica Shepard posted a dominant double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Natisha Hiedman added 17 points to the victory. The Lynx shot an incredible 59.2% from the field and 63% from three-point range, turning the game into a shooting clinic.
Meanwhile, the Aces had no answers on either end of the floor. Las Vegas committed 16 turnovers and managed just 34.3% shooting from the field. Their top scorer, Jewell Loyd, came off the bench for 12 points, while A’ja Wilson was held to just 10 points in a forgettable night for the Aces.
However, the dominant victory was overshadowed by serious concern over Collier’s health.
What Happened to Napheesa Collier During the Historic Victory?
While the box score tells the story of complete dominance, the emotional pulse of this game shifted dramatically when Collier left during the third quarter with an ankle injury that cast a shadow over the celebration.
Collier appeared to step awkwardly on teammate Alanna Smith’s foot during a transition play. Moments later, she immediately fell to the ground, unable to get back up under her own power and clearly in significant pain.
Teammates quickly surrounded her, using towels to shield her from view as she was helped off the court and taken directly to the locker room. The sight of the team’s star player unable to walk on her own turned the mood somber despite the historic margin of victory.
“I’m excited for the way that our team played, the way that we showed up today, and I’m also obviously concerned about Napheesa Collier,” Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said postgame. “We’ll worry. We’ll worry until we know more. There’s no way around it. I can be both happy for our team and worried. Hoping for the best.”
The Lynx (24-5)Â will visit the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night. Whether Collier will be available for that crucial matchup remains uncertain, with the team likely waiting for more information about the severity of her ankle injury.

Um.. The Aces are not the defending champions. That would be the NY Liberty (Whom the Lynx also defeated last week).
