Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons, one of the best defensive players in all of the NFL today, has officially requested to be moved from the Cowboys amid contract negotiation turmoil.
Naturally, the attention turned to owner Jerry Jones for his comments.
Micah Parsons Trade Request: Jerry Jones Calms Cowboys Nation
Based on the latest words from team owner and general manager Jones, Cowboys fans needn’t be worried about seeing Parsons wear the jersey of another NFL franchise.
According to Jones, Cowboys fans can sleep easily at night. “I would say this to our fans, don’t lose any sleep over this,” he said.

When asked about the state of the negotiations between the two sides, Jones explained that he actually made a substantial offer to Parsons that media members weren’t fully aware of.
“What y’all don’t know is what I offered him,” Jones said. “And it’s a hell of a lot more than you think I did. That’s what you don’t know.” Jones noted that Parsons then “took it off” the table.
As far as a potential trade of Parsons is concerned, is there one on the horizon? Don’t bet on it. “I’m not. The facts are that I think the world of Micah, and that’s just a part of negotiation,” Jones said.
“I don’t place that with any real seriousness. Micah’s got a bad back. That’s like being traded, we all weigh it the same.”
The Cowboys will begin their exhibition schedule next Saturday, August 9, with a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
Micah Parsons Requested a Trade From the Cowboys on Social Media
In a lengthy statement posted to his social media account, Parsons made it clear that he’s dissatisfied with the state of contract negotiations between himself and the Cowboys and no longer has a desire to play for the team.
“I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys,” he wrote. “My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”
Parsons has been one of the most accomplished defensive players in the NFL since his debut in the 2021 season. Not only did he win Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, but he’s also twice been named a first-team All-Pro, earned four Pro Bowl nominations, and has racked up 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks, nine pass deflections, and nine forced fumbles.
