Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Father Breaks Silence on Their Relationship Days After Professional Reunion

Apostolos Tsitsipas has recently resumed his coaching partnership with son Stefanos Tsitsipas following multiple past splits in their working relationship.

Apostolos Tsitsipas, the father of former World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas, has shared a heartfelt post on social media days after the duo resumed their coaching partnership.

Stefanos, who has been struggling with poor form throughout the season, re-hired his father following a brief mentorship under Novak Djokovic’s former coach Goran Ivanišević.

Apostolos Tsitsipas Shares a Peek Into Life With Son Stefanos

The senior Tsitsipas recently took to Instagram, where he shared three pictures with his son following their reunion.

The first two pictures showed the father-son duo in an indoor setting, sharing a moment. The third picture showed the duo posing for a selfie on a tennis court, presumably amid a tennis session.

“Father and son, coach and player,” Apostolos captioned his post.

Apostolos, who has coached Stefanos throughout his career, shares a complicated relationship with his son.

Their relationship hit a rocky patch in 2023, following which Stefanos hired former World No. 8 Mark Philippoussis as his head coach. However, the partnership was short-lived, and the father-son duo resumed their collaboration after two months.

In August 2024, Tsitsipas again announced that he had decided to end his coaching partnership with his father.

These developments have occurred during the bleakest phase in the Greek star’s tennis career. Once a fixture in the top 10 of the world rankings, Tsitsipas has fallen to No. 30 in the latest rankings chart.

Stefanos Tsitsipas Has Been Struggling With Form in 2025

The Greek’s 2025 season, despite winning the ATP 500 title in Dubai, has been lackluster. He exited the Australian Open and Wimbledon in the first rounds, and the French Open in the second round.

Tsitsipas’ woes continued at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Toronto, as he was bundled out in the very first round by Christopher O’Connell by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 2-6.

It marked the third consecutive loss for the 26-year-old Greek. His last outing came at Wimbledon, where he was forced to retire during his opener against French qualifier Valentin Royer.

Tsitsipas Split With Former Coach Goran Ivanišević After Public Comments

Ivanišević, who joined the Tsitsipas camp two months ago, publicly questioned the Greek’s commitment to the sport in an interview days after his Wimbledon exit.

“He wants to but he doesn’t do anything,” Ivanisevic said of Tsitsipas. “All ‘I want, I want’, but I don’t see that progress. I was shocked. I have never seen a more unprepared player in my life. With this knee, I am three times more fit than him. This is really bad.”

The comments reportedly caused a rift between the duo and Tsitsipas announced that they had split a few days later.

Following Ivanišević’s departure, Tsitsipas, speaking to SDNA, indicated that he had found a way to iron out his differences with his father and resume their partnership.

The Greek said, “We have found a new line of communication and a way to talk to each other, so that such things don’t happen again and such tensions don’t arise again.”

He continued, “I love my father with all my heart and what he has done in recent years is truly exciting. He has helped me in my difficult moments, in my most successful and good moments, my family has always been there. I don’t want to be separated from them.”
