Giants Star Russell Wilson Makes Feelings Clear on ‘Dominant’ Cam Skattebo Ahead of RB’s Rookie Season

Russell Wilson praised Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo's training camp performance, saying "he's got game" after impressive catches and runs.

The New York Giants overhauled their offense this offseason. After the departure of 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones, the team brought in veteran Russell Wilson as their new starting quarterback and drafted former Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. They also added running back Cam Skattebo in the draft, who Wilson says has been dominating training camp so far.

What Did Russell Wilson Say About Giants Rookie Cam Skattebo’s Training Camp Performance?

The Giants selected Skattebo with the No. 105 pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. While the young running back isn’t the most explosive player, many viewed the selection as a steal considering Skattebo was one of the best backs in college football during the 2024 season.

The former Arizona State superstar has already been turning heads at training camp, especially with a one-handed grab he made for a score during Sunday’s team practice.

He’s consistently been dominating both as a runner and a pass catcher out of the backfield, and people are starting to take notice, including Wilson, who praised Skattebo on the “Up and Adams” show.

“The kid is a dominant player,” Wilson said. “You saw him running the ball today, you saw him catching the ball out of the backfield. He’s got skills. He’s got game.”

Skattebo’s early success in training camp is no surprise, considering his 2024 season with the Sun Devils, during which he rushed for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns and added 605 receiving yards and three more TDs.

He proved himself an NFL-caliber player in the team’s playoff game against Texas, delivering arguably the best individual performance in the CFP. He led Arizona State with 143 rushing yards and 99 receiving yards. He also threw a 42-yard touchdown pass and added two more touchdowns on the ground.

Skattebo faces competition from running backs Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary throughout training camp for the team’s starting job. Given Wilson’s praise and his strong performance so far, Skattebo should be a leading contender to earn the majority of carries for New York in the 2025 season.

New York’s rushing offense struggled last season, ranking 23rd in yards per game with 104.9. Tracy is expected to serve more as a third-down back, so with Skattebo handling early-down carries, the two could form a potent one-two punch for the Giants.
