2026 Prospect Takes Shots at Tyran Stokes Again as Heated Peach Jam Confrontation Resurfaces

A 2026 prospect doubles down on his Peach Jam clash with Tyran Stokes while announcing his senior season transfer to SPIRE Academy.

The tension between top basketball prospects rarely stays buried, and four-star 2026 guard Aiden Derkack just proved that point.

The rising senior doubled down on his heated confrontation with consensus No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes while simultaneously announcing a major move that could reshape his path to college basketball.

Why Did Aiden Derkack Refuse to Back Down From the Nation’s Top Recruit?

Aiden Derkack, a 6’5″ shooting guard from Colonia High School, made it crystal clear he has zero regrets about standing his ground against Stokes during their explosive Nike EYBL Peach Jam showdown.

The confrontation wasn’t just a heat-of-the-moment clash. These two players had been building tension since 2024, when Stokes allegedly mocked Team Final’s warm-ups during an EYBL session.

When Derkack’s Team Final finally faced off against Stokes’ Oakland Soldiers squad, the simmering rivalry boiled over. Stokes ran his shoulder into Derkack following an exchange of words, but the Colonia standout clapped right back at him before referees stepped in to separate them.

“I don’t care about no rankings, if you have all these offers or not, I’m just going to play hard,” Derkack told Zagsblog. “And if he’s talking s***, I’m going to talk s*** back. I’m not going to back down from anyone.”

The beauty of Derkack’s response? He backed up his words on the scoreboard. While shutting down the nation’s top prospect, he limited Stokes to just 14 points and seven turnovers. Meanwhile, Derkack put up 16 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, showing exactly why college coaches view him as one of the class’s most tenacious defenders.

This wasn’t an isolated performance either. Derkack has competed exceptionally well against five-star prospects throughout the summer circuit, earning his self-proclaimed title as “a pest on defense.” His lockdown performance against Stokes validated that description perfectly.

“I feel like I have taken a big step in that part and just being a dog on the court,” Derkack said about his defensive growth. “Being a dog on the court in all areas, I think I’ve excelled at especially at Peach.”

How Will Derkack’s Transfer to SPIRE Academy (OH) Impact His Recruitment?

Beyond the Stokes confrontation, Derkack dropped major news about his senior season plans. He’ll transfer to SPIRE Academy to play under legendary coach Kevin Boyle, who recently left Montverde Academy to take over the Ohio-based prep powerhouse.

Playing under Boyle puts Derkack in an environment that prioritizes elite-level competition and development. The timing couldn’t be better, considering his explosive summer performance. At Peach Jam, he averaged 21.4 points per game (fourth-highest among all players), 6.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting an impressive 56.6% from the field.

Those numbers caught the attention of major college programs across the country. The 48th-ranked prospect by 247Sports plans to announce his college decision in early November, choosing from a stellar list that includes Butler, Creighton, Dayton, Indiana, Maryland, Providence, USC, Villanova, and Xavier.

Providence has shown a particularly strong interest, attending every game during summer evaluation periods. Their consistent presence dates back to last year, suggesting they’ve been tracking Derkack’s development long before his breakout summer.

Meanwhile, Stokes maintains his No. 1 national ranking with interest from Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas, and other blue-blood programs.

However, Derkack’s fearless attitude and proven summer performance position him as a prospect who competes at the highest level regardless of opponent rankings or reputations.

The move to SPIRE Academy under Boyle’s guidance could be the final piece Derkack needs to elevate his recruitment even further. With his defensive intensity, improved offensive numbers, and now access to elite coaching and competition, the New Jersey guard is positioning himself perfectly for a strong senior campaign.
