Fever Superstar Caitlin Clark Continues to Smash Records With Historic $660,000 Rookie Card Sale

Caitlin Clark sets another record as the Indiana Fever superstar's biggest trading card sets all-time high in recent auction.

Caitlin Clark’s trading card empire just reached new heights, proving that even during an injury-plagued season, collectors can’t get enough of the Indiana Fever superstar. Her latest auction record is making waves for all the right reasons, but it’s happening while she’s stuck on the sideline nursing a groin injury that has no clear return date.

How Did Caitlin Clark’s Card Break Another Auction Record?

Clark continues to set WNBA records, but the latest isn’t on the court. The Fever superstar’s 2024 Panini Flawless WNBA Platinum Rookie Logowoman 1/1 card sold for a whopping $660,000 through Fanatics Collect’s July Premier auction on Thursday.

This sale crushed her previous record, surpassing the March sale of her 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl autograph 1/1 rookie card in a PSA 10 that sold for $366,000. The difference between the cards matters to serious collectors, and it shows why this latest sale reached such heights.

Clark’s next card, the Immaculate WNBA Rookie Logowoman 1/1, is up for auction and expected to sell for another massive figure. At the time of writing, it’s priced at $219,600 with buyer’s premium on Goldin, with the auction set to end on Aug. 9.

What Makes These Cards So Valuable to Collectors?

Per The Athletic’s Larry Holder, Clark’s card market value hasn’t diminished despite the former Iowa Hawkeyes star’s injury-plagued campaign. Holder also noted the key differences between the Flawless and Immaculate cards that drive their value.

“The autographs are directly on the card. This is far more desirable to collectors than autographed stickers that are placed on cards, which is what the Prizm card has,” he noted.

The personal touches Clark added make these cards even more special for collectors. She inscribed the Flawless card with “769 pts and counting,” referencing how many points she scored during her 2024 campaign, when she won the WNBA rookie of the year award. The Immaculate card features “ROY 24” to signify Clark’s rookie of the year honors.

When Will Clark Return From Her Groin Injury?

Meanwhile, disappointing news surrounds Clark’s return to the court. The Fever and their fans are still waiting for concrete answers about when their star guard will be back in action.

The second-year guard went down with a groin injury on July 15 and hasn’t suited up since. Indiana has been cautious with updates, and for good reason. The Fever issued their latest statement saying there was no additional damage or injuries, and that Clark would be monitored closely by the team’s doctors and medical staff.

“There is no timetable available for Clark’s return, and no additional details will be provided at this time,” the team’s statement said.

The timing couldn’t be more crucial for Indiana. It’s been a challenging campaign for the Fever, who hold a 13-12 record and are currently 6th in the WNBA standings. With 19 games remaining in the regular season, the Clark-less team needs to keep its head above the .500 mark and clinch a playoff berth. The Fever are currently 1 game ahead of the Las Vegas Aces, Golden State Valkyries and Washington Mystics.

The expectation remains for Clark to return at some point before the end of the regular season, but without a clear timeline, every game becomes more important for a team trying to secure its postseason future.
