Jauan Jennings turned his breakout 2024 season into leverage. After hauling in 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns with the San Francisco 49ers, the receiver wants to cash in while his stock is high. He’s told the team he wants a sizable raise or a trade, putting the 49ers in a tough spot.
If San Francisco won’t pay up, one team stands out as the perfect landing spot for Jennings to finally become a true WR1.
Where Could Jauan Jennings Go and Immediately be a WR1?
The Las Vegas Raiders have been rebuilding on the fly since hiring Pete Carroll as their head coach. They acquired quarterback Geno Smith in a trade with the Seahawks, giving him talented targets in Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers.
They also drafted running back Ashton Jeanty sixth overall and have built a solid offensive line.
However, they still need another outside receiver to complete their offensive puzzle.
PFSN’s Brandon Austin believes the Raiders are the ideal destination for Jennings in a trade.
“Las Vegas is positioned to trade for Jennings thanks to its $48.6 million cap space, which easily absorbs his projected salary and allows room for an extension,” writes Austin. “A package of a third-round pick and a promising but inconsistent receiver like Tre Tucker feels right for Jennings, considering he’s coming off a strong campaign but hasn’t proven he’s a WR1.”
The financial math works perfectly. Jennings wants a raise, and the Raiders have $48.6 million in cap space to make it happen. Plus, they desperately need a reliable threat on the outside in their passing attack.
“For Jennings, Las Vegas offers a straightforward opportunity to compete for a lead receiver role,” says Austin. “The Raiders’ ground-heavy offense and Carroll’s preference for physical receivers mean Jennings could be a focal point, giving Geno Smith a proven, versatile option alongside Meyers and Bowers.”
Austin’s proposed trade package breaks down like this:
- Raiders receive: WR Jauan Jennings
- 49ers receive: 2026 3rd-round pick, WR Tre Tucker
This deal makes sense for both sides. If this opportunity presents itself, the Raiders should jump at it. Las Vegas would finally get the additional receiving help they need in their passing game, while the 49ers could pivot to Rick Pearsall and hope that Brandon Aiyuk returns to full health sooner rather than later.

The fit is natural for both franchises. Both teams lean heavily on the running game and need receivers who can be physical and block downfield effectively. That means the transition from San Francisco to Las Vegas would be seamless for Jennings, who already excels in those areas.
It’s an awkward situation for the 49ers, who would probably prefer to keep Jennings on the roster. After all, he signed a two-year contract extension for $15.39 million in 2024, which included $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
Ultimately, whether or not the 49ers decide to honor Jennings’ request will determine where he plays in 2025.
