Buffalo Bills running back James Cook had a great 2024-2025 season and played a significant role in the team’s offensive success. Following his strong performance, Cook is seeking a big-time contract extension to reflect his value.
While negotiations have yet to produce a deal, Cook has reported to training camp but continues to emphasize that he wants an extension he feels matches his on-field contributions.

Throughout the offseason, Cook has made it clear he is seeking a contract extension. Although no agreement has been reached with Buffalo, he chose to report to training camp rather than hold out.
After today’s practice, Cook spoke about his decision to report to camp, saying he’s there to avoid fines and show the team that he’s worth every penny he asks for.

While Cook has reported to camp, he remains focused on securing the contract he believes he deserves. He states he will never give up on that goal, whether it means staying with the Bills or moving on to another team.

“I’m never gonna give up. I deserve what I want… It’s gonna get done, wherever it happens at,” Cook said.
As training camp kicks off, Cook’s stance reflects a growing trend among some of the league’s top players. Stars like Micah Parsons, Trey Hendrickson, and Terry McLaurin are also pursuing new contracts but are facing challenges reaching agreements with their teams.
While McLaurin and Hendrickson have chosen to hold out from team activities until they get extensions, Cook, like Parsons, has reported to camp but continues publicly pushing for the deal he wants.
Whether the Bills will meet Cook’s demands remains uncertain. Still, his performance over the past two seasons establishes him as one of the NFL’s top running backs, and Buffalo could certainly benefit from his talents for years to come.
