Former tennis pro Sam Querrey has shed light on one of the most endearing off-court moments of Wimbledon 2025, when champions Iga Świątek and Jannik Sinner were gently coaxed by the crowd into dancing together at the annual Champions’ Ball.
According to Querrey, who was part of ESPN’s commentary crew and present at the event, the lighthearted moment was the result of classic peer pressure from an eager audience.
Celebrating Champions Iga Świątek and Jannik Sinner Shine at the Champions’ Ball
The Champions’ Ball, held on the final Sunday of Wimbledon, is one of the tournament’s most iconic traditions. After two weeks of intense competition, the event offers players a chance to unwind in style.
This year’s celebration was particularly special as it honored Świątek and Sinner, both of whom had just captured their first Wimbledon singles titles. Their shared spotlight and eventual dance became the night’s most talked-about highlight, going viral across tennis social media.

On the “Nothing Major” podcast, Querrey gave fans an insider’s perspective of the night, recalling how Świątek, who wore a pearl blue Stella McCartney gown, arrived around 10:30 p.m.
“Iga showed up at 10:30. She kind of comes in. You stand up. They make this cool video on the jumbotron. She holds up her trophy. Then you sit down,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Sinner, who looked sharp in a black Gucci suit with a white shirt and matching tie, made his entrance well past midnight.
“Sinner came at like 12:05. He was in the back hammering drinks with his team obviously, having a good time,” Querrey said with a chuckle.
Querrey went on to describe how the atmosphere shifted once both champions were brought on stage by former British pro Laura Robson for a quick Q&A session. What followed was a crowd-led push for the duo to dance.
“There was a rumor they weren’t going to have to dance and then the crowd peer pressured them into dancing for like 45 seconds,” Querrey revealed.
“It was good though. Jannik did a good job. Jannik was feeling good and made it really fun. Smile on his face, started twirling Iga. And then after 45 seconds in they were done dancing and then went back to the table.”
Recapping Sinner and Świątek’s Path to Wimbledon Glory
Sinner, the top seed at Wimbledon, capped off a stellar two weeks by defeating two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz in the final, avenging his Roland Garros loss from a month earlier.
On his way to a fourth Grand Slam title, Sinner beat Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic, Pedro Martínez, No. 19 seed Grigor Dimitrov, No. 10 seed Ben Shelton, and seven-time winner Novak Djokovic.
On the women’s side, Świątek dominated the final with a 6-0, 6-0 win over No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova, claiming her sixth Grand Slam title and first on grass. After a year-long title drought, her flawless run gave her Wimbledon win a storybook feel.
She advanced to her maiden final at SW19, defeating Polina Kudermetova, Caty McNally, Danielle Collins, No. 23 seed Clara Tauson, No. 19 seed Liudmila Samsonova, and Belinda Bencic.
