Tyreek Hill Shockingly Predicted As Cut Candidate for Dolphins As Miami Re-Tools Roster Ahead of Huge Season

In a potential shake-up, Tyreek Hill is seen as a possible cut as the Dolphins continue their roster revamp.

The Miami Dolphins have had a busy offseason amid a roster shakeup. The Dolphins brought back Minkah Fitzpatrick after years in Pittsburgh in a deal that sent perennial Pro Bowler Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to the Steelers. In one of the most surprising offseason moves, Darren Waller is back in the NFL and will suit up for Miami after being dealt from the New York Giants.

The Dolphins could shock the NFL world once more with a league-altering move by cutting their star WR Tyreek Hill as they continue to retool and revamp their roster.

Tyreek Hill’s Future with Miami

Hill could see himself in a new uniform sometime during the 2025 NFL season. PFSN’s Jacob Infante lists Hill as a shocking cut candidate for Miami. While it isn’t most likely that Hill will be cut during training camp, it is certainly in the realm of possibility if Hill wants out of Miami.

“For the record, Tyreek Hill makes much more sense as a trade option. Not only would a player of his caliber reel in solid value in a trade, but the Miami Dolphins would save over $20 million more trading him rather than releasing him.

Keeping Hill here doesn’t make him a cut candidate, but rather a “player who could be on the move” candidate. Hill was vocal near the end of last season that he wasn’t happy with the current state of the Dolphins’ organization. If those concerns remain strong, he could try to push himself out like Jalen Ramsey did,” said Infante.

Hill has had his two best seasons in the NFL with the Dolphins, but after struggling individually and as a team last year, Hill was highly frustrated with the organization. While the team’s struggles can partly be attributed to the injuries to QB Tua Tagovailoa, Hill couldn’t produce to his usual level and missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.

The Dolphins are making an effort to retool their roster and are looking to make it back to the playoffs once again. Hill should be a big piece to Miami if he stays, but moving on from Hill remains a strong possibility due to his antics at the end of last season and their philosophy of retooling the roster to find a new identity.

Hill is a five-time First-Team All-Pro, an eight-time Pro Bowler, with 11,098 receiving yards in his nine NFL seasons. With two seasons of over 1,700 receiving yards in Miami, Hill has built up a rapport with Tagovailoa that Miami will rely on for success if Hill remains a Dolphin.

Hill is under contract for this season as well as next. Hill carries around a $27 million cap hit this season, but if the Dolphins don’t see a future with Hill, they could eat it and cut Hill to help rebuild their roster with other players. Teams would likely be interested in trading for Hill if the situation worsens, but the Dolphins could also disregard the money they might save in the trouble of finding a fair deal and release Hill.

Training camp is always fun, as some players who may not have been expected to change teams will do so. The question remains whether Hill will be one of those players, surprisingly cut or moved, but for the first time in a very long time, there is a chance that Hill ends up on the market.
