Caitlin Clark made a late Thursday announcement that she wouldn’t participate in the All-Star game in Indianapolis, leaving WNBA fans disappointed. However, with the game sold out, the Indiana Fever guard promised to be there for the weekend and has kept her word.
Why Did Caitlin Clark Still Attend All-Star Weekend Despite Her Injury?
The All-Star Weekend festivities are taking place in Indianapolis for the first time ever. While it was a surprise that a state boasting such a rich basketball history had yet to host the midseason showcase, Clark’s arrival last year made the timing perfect.
Indiana’s dreams took a hit when the Fever’s star guard announced she would not be in action this weekend due to her groin injury. Clark was set to participate in the STARRY 3-point contest and captain the All-Star Game against Napheesa Collier.
Despite missing the competition, she stayed true to her promise to attend the weekend and be present for her team. The Fever guard arrived late Thursday night for the Orange Carpet alongside her brother, and her teammates were literally screaming on her arrival.

Clark was spotted in an all-black dress, and in a different video, her brother took a cheeky dig at the WNBA referees.

What Led to Clark’s Current Injury Situation?
Her brother’s comments come after Clark’s heated exchange with the officials during the Fever’s win against the Connecticut Sun this past week. With just over four minutes left in the third quarter, officials reviewed a contested out-of-bounds play that initially favored Indiana. After a closer look, the ball was ruled to have last touched Natasha Howard, handing possession to Connecticut. As the call flipped, Clark’s demeanor did the same.
Clark yelled at official Mike Price, and while they would eventually go on to win the game, the Rookie of the Year left the court with a groin injury. She was delivering a late-game assist when she immediately reached for her right thigh and slammed her head against the stanchion.
Following that incident, Clark missed Indiana’s matchup against the New York Liberty the following day and will now remain sidelined from the All-Star game as she looks to recover and steer the Fever’s ship. She has already missed significant game time in the 2024-25 campaign due to quad and groin issues, while the Fever are managing a 12-11 record in the league.
Despite the injuries, Clark has been solid when healthy. In 13 appearances, she has averaged 16.5 points, five rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, which resulted in her second All-Star nod as well.
