Paula Badosa previously disclosed that she is grappling with a lower back injury that will sideline her from the tour for several weeks. In light of this situation, she recently shared what her life has been like following her withdrawal from the 2025 Citi DC Open in Washington, where she was scheduled to defend her title.
Last year, Badosa received a wild card entry into the main draw of the WTA 500 hard-court tournament in Washington. She overcame Sofia Kenin, Liudmila Samsonova, Emma Raducanu, Caroline Dolehide, and ultimately defeated Marie Bouzková in the final to claim the title.

In her post, the Spaniard also reflected on the importance of love in one’s life.
“At the end of life, when all material and superficial things fade away, only the essential remains: the love we gave, the love we received, and the mark we left on the hearts of others,” Badosa wrote.
Badosa articulated that while “successes,” “money,” and “ego” may diminish in value over time, love remains constant.
“Successes are forgotten, money is lost, and the ego dissolves… but love transcends. The way we made others feel, the authentic moments, the shared laughter, the comfort offered, the sincere hugs… that’s what truly remains,” she added.

A few days ago, Badosa revealed that she had been dealing with a tear in her psoas muscle in the lower back region since the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard also added that this injury would sideline her from the Tour for several weeks.
“Hi everyone, Been disconnected for a while but wanted to update you on my situation right now. I’ve been going through some tough moments lately… Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with a tear on my psoas since before Wimbledon, and it’s going to keep me out of competition for a few weeks…” Badosa wrote.
The Spaniard expressed that repeatedly facing lower back injuries has been “really challenging” for her.
“These are really challenging times for me, but I’m staying hopeful that things will turn around soon and the light at the end of the tunnel will start to shine through. Thank you all for the immense support, P,” she added.
Badosa’s most recent appearance on the court was at the London Major, where she lost 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 to Katie Boulter in the first round.
