Caitlin Clark is no stranger to viral moments, and Tuesday night at TD Garden proved it again. During the Indiana Fever’s win against the Connecticut Sun, the guard earned the spotlight not for a step-back three but a heated exchange with an official.
Later, she left fans holding their breath when she grabbed at her groin in the closing minutes. The Fever are rolling, yet their most important player may be hurting.
Caitlin Clark Yells at Ref After Controversial Call in Fever vs. Sun Game
With just over four minutes left in the third quarter, officials reviewed a contested out-of-bounds play that initially favored Indiana. After a closer look, the ball was ruled to have last touched Natasha Howard, handing possession to Connecticut. As the call flipped, Clark’s demeanor did the same.
She grew visibly frustrated, yelling at official Mike Price. Cameras caught her motioning with her arms and shouting, “Grow up! Come here, come here! Unbelievable.” An assistant coach quickly stepped in and held her back.

Despite the flare-up, Clark avoided a technical foul, which stands out given her track record. In 13 games this campaign, she already has two technicals. She wrapped up her rookie season with six, one shy of a suspension and the second-most in the league.
Meanwhile, Indiana entered the night on a two-game win streak, trying to take down one of the WNBA’s top teams in a neutral-site showcase. Clark’s frustration reflected more than one call; it showed the grind of a physically taxing schedule.
Clark Suffers Groin Injury Scare Late in Fever’s Win
The Fever secured an 85-77 victory, but Clark’s night ended with another scare. After delivering a late-game assist, she immediately reached for her right thigh and slammed her head against the stanchion.
Head coach Stephanie White said Clark “felt a little something in her groin” and would undergo further evaluation. The concern is amplified by her injury history in the 2024-25 campaign, which already includes missed time for quad and groin issues.
Clark returned from her most recent groin strain less than a week ago. Now, the same problem might be resurfacing at the worst possible time. Indiana faces the Liberty and Sabrina Ionescu in fewer than 24 hours, a quick turnaround that offers little room for recovery.

The shooting struggles add to the tension as she entered Tuesday just 1-for-28 from deep on the road. She finished 4-for-14 from the field and 1-for-7 from three, numbers that show she is still searching for her rhythm.
Even as the Fever move over .500 heading into the All-Star break, Clark’s health remains the biggest story.
