When the New York Jets signed Garrett Wilson to a massive four-year, $130 million extension, they weren’t just paying for his past performance.
They were betting on a receiver who has consistently delivered despite playing for one of the league’s most inconsistent offenses. Wilson’s payday tells the story of a player who has thrived in chaos and now gets rewarded for it.
What Makes Garrett Wilson’s Contract Historic?
Wilson’s four-year, $130 million deal includes $90 million guaranteed with a $13.75 million signing bonus. His annual average of $32.5 million makes him the fifth-highest paid receiver in the league, behind Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and D.K. Metcalf.
The deal also marks the first time in history that a wideout has received an annual average value of more than $31 million after playing just three years in the league.
This milestone reflects Wilson’s remarkable consistency, having eclipsed 1,000 yards in his three seasons since entering the league in 2022.

However, the deal will kick in during 2027 as Wilson is still under his rookie contract. He had signed a four-year deal worth $20.55 million, including a $12.1 million signing bonus, in 2022.

Wilson will earn $6.5 million in 2025 before earning $16.8 million on his fifth-year option in 2026.
How Has Wilson Built His Wealth Beyond Football?
Wilson earned over $17 million from the league in his three years with the Jets. Beyond his football salary, he also likely benefits from performance incentives and endorsement deals, although the specifics of these earnings remain private.
In 2023, he appeared in a notable Pepsi Zero Sugar campaign, where his lighthearted and energetic persona resonated with fans and consumers alike. He also appeared in an NFL TV spot and commercials for Oakley, Dr. Teals, and Adidas.
His net worth is around $2 million based on these income sources. However, that figure is very likely a low estimate, and considering his NIL earnings, $12 million rookie signing bonus, and now $13.75 million signing bonus from the extension, it should be a pretty good number.
Wilson’s success on the field has translated into a comfortable lifestyle off it. Wilson owns a home in Florham Park, New Jersey thanks to his football income. While searching for his new residence, he had a million-dollar budget.
He currently lives in a house featuring a master bedroom, two bathrooms, a backyard, a swimming pool, a patio, and a lounge. This single-family home was perfectly suited to Wilson, who sought more open spaces for his young family. The 24-year-old is dating former UT guard Shay Holle, and the couple recently went Instagram official.
Wilson’s journey from Ohio State alum drafted with the No. 10 pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft to one of the league’s highest-paid receivers shows what happens when talent meets opportunity.
Known for his speed and ability to make big catches, Wilson elevates the team’s offense to another level and has been the only bright spot on the Jets’ roster in recent years. As a result, he was deservedly rewarded with his massive deal by the Jets on Monday, July 14.
Previewing Jets vs. Packers Week 1 Preseason Game
The Jets will take on the Green Bay Packers in their first game under new head coach Aaron Glenn. The former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator is familiar with Matt LaFleur’s team, so the Jets’ defense could have an advantage in this matchup.
It is also a great opportunity for all Jets players to impress their new head coach ahead of what is a crucial season for their starting quarterback.
If Justin Fields doesn’t play well, the Jets could be in a position to draft a quarterback early next year, which might jeopardize the Ohio State product’s chances of becoming a starting NFL quarterback for a long time.
As for the Packers, it’s time for Jordan Love to be consistent and have an MVP-caliber season. Green Bay has a roster ready to make a deep playoff run, but everything depends on their quarterback, who has proven to be elite at times.
