While he hasn’t played in a game since Super Bowl 57, Ndamukong Suh has officially retired from the National Football League. The 38-year-old’s career spanned from 2010 to 2022 as he suited up for five different teams. With his last game as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Super Bowl 55 Champion took to social media to announce his retirement.
Ndamukong Suh’s Retirement Post is in Honor of His Late Father
Suh’s post began with the date, July 12, 2024, which was the last time he saw his father. The five-time Pro Bowler called his father his “idol, coach, and anchor.” The thing that stood out most about Suh’s post was a comment from his father, “It’s time to let football go. You’ve done everything you set out to do. Now it’s time for the next chapter.” Here on July 12, 2025, he’s granted his father that wish.

One year to the date later, he’s officially calling it quits and announcing his next project. Suh pointed out his “countless battles in the trenches” alongside his major accomplishments, including his Super Bowl ring. Football has always been Suh’s passion, but he knew it wasn’t his endgame. He commented, “That’s why I created the ‘No Free Lunch’ podcast. It’s about real conversations, real strategy, and real education.”
His post came to an end with the quote, “Rest in power, Dad, Your mission lives on through me.” Numerous photos were posted, with most of them featuring his late father. Suh showed nothing but class in his retirement post, something that has clearly been weighing on him for quite some time.
Suh’s Career Earnings and Stats
Throughout his 13-year career, Suh took home a pretty penny. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 draft, earning $64 million in his five seasons with the Detroit Lions. He spent a total of three seasons on both the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, along with one season on the Los Angeles Rams and the Eagles. In total, Suh earned just over $168 million in his NFL career.
Suh cashed in on his rookie contract, as he turned those five years into a three-year, $60 million deal with the Dolphins. Just two years later, he made less than half of that as the Bucs gave him just shy of $27.5 million for a three-year deal.
He finished his career one game shy of 200. His 600 total tackles were mostly solo ones, as he brought down 392 men by himself. With 71.5 sacks, Suh’s career high of 10 came in his 2010 rookie season. He finished with five or more sacks in eight seasons, and he had four and a half in 2018 and 2019.
The Nebraska graduate finished his career with three total touchdowns, two of them coming in 2019 with the Bucs. He had a touchdown in his rookie season as well; that 2010 season also stands out as his only year with an interception.
