Grigor Dimitrov Pushes Through in Epic Second-Round Wimbledon Battle

The 34-year-old Bulgarian is playing in his 15th Wimbledon main draw. Seeded No. 19 this year, Dimitrov opened his 2025 campaign with a straight-sets win over Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka. He followed it up with a rollercoaster 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory over France’s Moutet, which stretched over three hours and 38 minutes.

González, known for her roles in blockbuster films like Baby Driver and Godzilla vs. Kong, has been accompanying Dimitrov throughout the grass court season. She was spotted in the player’s box at Court 3 during Thursday’s match, visibly engaged with every point. After the win, she took to Instagram Stories to post a candid snapshot of Dimitrov during his on-court interview, followed by a candid shot of herself seated in the stands.

The couple’s relationship first drew attention in April during the Madrid Open when the two were spotted together for the first time. They made things official in June when González posted a heartfelt birthday message to Dimitrov on her Instagram, confirming their romance to the public.

‘I’m Just Very Happy With the Match’ — Dimitrov on His Second Round Performance

In his post-match on-court interview following his second-round victory, Dimitrov said he hasn’t been at his best but was pleased with the tough win.

“Honestly, I’m just very happy with the match,” he said. “I have not been playing my best tennis but being able to go through a match like that gives me enough to look forward to the next one and kind of reassess my game a little bit. Also, see where I’m at physically.”

“It was three-plus hours, so I’m feeling OK. My energy is a bit low at the moment but, other than that, I really enjoyed it.”

Dimitrov advanced to the third round, where he will face Sebastian Ofner. This will be their first meeting on the ATP Tour, with the winner meeting either top seed Jannik Sinner or Pedro Martínez in the fourth round.
