Ashton Jeanty has had a historic season in college football. He has surged among the top prospects and will likely be drafted early in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jeanty recently appeared in a video with YouTuber Deestroying and spoke about the NFL team he would like to be drafted by.
Ashton Jeanty Makes Feelings Clear About His Ideal NFL Fit
Boise State’s star running back has expressed his desire to be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the upcoming draft. Although Jeanty was born in Florida, he attended Lone Star High School in Texas and has family living there.
“If I could script it, my family is all in Texas,” said Jeanty. “Family being there, all the connections, all the relationships, I feel like that would just be the perfect city to play in.”

The Cowboys are 3-6 on the season heading into Week 11, and with Dak Prescott set to miss the rest of the season, the team will likely end up with a top draft pick.
Drafting a running back in the first round is always risky, but Jeanty is the type of player who has proven that he can be a difference-maker. In nine games for Boise State this year, he has rushed for 1,734 yards and 23 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry and 192.7 rushing yards per game.
Jeanty still has three games left to play this season and could surpass Derrick Henry’s tally of 2,219 rushing yards that he registered with Alabama in 2015. The 20-year-old running back is not playing for a stacked team like Henry, but despite that, he has had one of the most memorable seasons by a running back in college football.
If the Cowboys do not draft him, plenty of other teams will be happy to get Jeanty. In the last four drafts, running backs like Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Travis Etienne, and Najee Harris were selected in the first round. The first two are on a superstar trajectory, while Etienne and Harris have also been impactful for their respective teams.
Jeanty Makes a Lot of Sense for the Cowboys
The Cowboys’ offense has been a disaster this year. Their failure to get a quality running back via the draft or free agency has resulted in regression from all the offensive players. Even before getting hurt, Prescott did not play well, and in their first game without their starting quarterback, the Cowboys scored only six points.
Dallas has the league’s second-worst run game, only behind the Las Vegas Raiders. The NFC East team is averaging just 83.7 yards per game and 3.8 yards per carry.
Based on their season so far, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Ezekiel Elliott, and Dalvin Cook are not the solution for them. They need to draft an explosive running back next year, and Jeanty is the perfect fit.
The Cowboys failed to replace Tony Pollard this past offseason. But, they have an opportunity to get an elite prospect in Jeanty, who could be a staple at the running back position for years to come.
Dallas already has quality players on defense, like Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland, Trevon Diggs, and DeMarcus Lawrence. With Prescott and CeeDee Lamb signing long-term extensions before the start of the season, running back and offensive line are the positions of need for them.
It will be interesting to see what Jerry Jones does in the 2025 NFL Draft, as the fans would love to see him drafting Jeanty to add some explosiveness to their offense.
