The day is at hand, the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl is officially on. After a week-long set of festivities that proved this event is truly more than a game, the Shrine Bowl culminates at Allegiant Stadium. As the eyes of the nation descend on the 97th annual Shrine Bowl, it’s important to understand just what we’re watching. And what separates it from the other year-end college football all-star games. Let’s take a look at what the Shrine Bowl means and how to watch the 97th edition of the all-star classic, including the schedule, TV coverage, and start time.
2022 East-West Shrine Bowl is more than a game
After four days of practice, the aspiring professional athletes at the Shrine Bowl were treated to an experience like no other. Meeting, greeting, and generally buoying the spirits of the Shriners Children’s Hospital representatives, the athletes spent the day autographing footballs, playing catch on the field, and high-fiving the amazing patients of Shriners.
Benefits aplenty at the Shrine Bowl
The Shrine Bowl seeks to serve many at its core. As it originated, the East-West Shrine Bowl benefits the Shriners Children’s Hospital and its mission to provide excellent specialty care for children. Shriners Children’s Hospital provides care for children with a multitude of different ailments including, but not limited to orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. They do this regardless of the family’s ability to pay for the services or not.
The game also serves as a platform for college football athletes to showcase their talents for the next level. It is the longest-running college football all-star game, reaching its 97th game this year. NFL scouts, team personnel, media, and fans are all treated to their ability on the field and access to their personalities off of it.
