‘Wow, This Might Be It’ — NBA World Reacts to Steve Kerr Hinting He ‘Might Not Ever’ Coach Warriors Again

Steve Kerr raises alarm with a concerning admission ahead of the Warriors' play-in clash vs. the Clippers.

As the Golden State Warriors gear up for their Western Conference play-in clash against the Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Kerr continues to hint that he may already have a foot out the door.

The veteran coach’s latest comments during Wednesday’s pregame media session only furthered concerns that the Kerr-era Warriors could be approaching the end of their storied run.

Steve Kerr Admits ‘Finality’ Is ‘Possible’ for Warriors Entering Play-In

Kerr and Co. had a regular season to forget, with key injuries causing them to stumble to a 10th-place finish (37-45). They essentially secured the West’s final play-in spot by default, with almost no competition for the spot.

That set them up for a play-in showdown against the veteran-laden Kawhi Leonard-led Clippers, who managed to finish above .500 (42-40) despite their disastrous 6-21 start.

Golden State is near full strength against LA, aside from season-ending injuries to star forward Jimmy Butler III (knee) and Moses Moody (knee). Still, Kerr continues to embrace a somber approach to his Stephen Curry-led squad’s outlook.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the four-time NBA championship-winning coach acknowledged that this could be the Warriors’ last hurrah.

“This is an opportunity we might not ever get again. We don’t know,” Kerr said. “We’re all at that stage where we have to be conscious of the finality that is possible. So, it’s just sort of unspoken. We’re well aware, but we don’t spend a lot of time discussing it because we’re trying to win the game.”

Kerr’s comments promptly raised alarm across the NBA world, particularly Dub Nation.

“This tells me there is a good chance Kerr is gone,” Warriors fan account @SplashWRLD_ predicted.

“Damn, is he really finna be gone?” prominent Golden State fan @30sLegacy questioned.

“Wow, this might be it for Kerr,” Warriors news account DubsMedia reacted.

“This might be the last game Steve Kerr will coach for the Warriors,” Curry fan page
Curry Flurry opined.

If the Warriors are eliminated from the play-in, it would mark their second time missing the playoffs in the last three years, a far cry from their dominance in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

Meanwhile, Kerr is wrapping up the final year of his historic two-year, $35 million contract extension and has been noncommittal about his future beyond his current deal.

As such, all eyes will be on the 60-year-old if the Warriors’ downfall continues.
