The insider’s wording suggests that Rozier participated in illegal activities at the time of the trade. Miami claims the Hornets did not adequately inform them of the severity of Rozier’s legal troubles. Charlotte now sends out a draft pick for this summer that turns into the most favorable of the Golden State Warriors’ and Denver Nuggets’ second-round selections.
Rozier still takes up a roster spot. Miami could have traded his $26.6 million expiring contract this season before the deadline, but that time has passed.

However, Miami has a recent history of developing second-round talent. It selected Pelle Larsson with the 44th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 25-year-old guard is averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 25.1 minutes per game for his sophomore campaign.
