You know Cade Cunningham as the Detroit Pistons’ young leader, but off the court, his life is all about quiet love, fatherhood, and a strong family bond. He is rumored to be dating Nikia Withers and is a proud father to his daughter, Riley Cunningham. Cade seems to handle it all with ease.
Cade Cunningham and Nikia Withers Reportedly Together Since 2021
Nikia Withers was born on June 29, 1996, in California. She’s reportedly five years older than Cade. The two were first linked in 2021 and have reportedly been together for more than three years. She’s active on Instagram under the username @nikia.
From 2015 to 2017, she played volleyball at the University of Southern California, where she also majored in law. After college, she coached high school volleyball for two years and later played professionally with Athletes Unlimited in 2022. NFL tight end Marcedes Lewis is Withers’ older brother. She’s been linked to other athletes in the past, including Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell.
Cunningham’s Daughter Lives a Private Life Away From the Spotlight
Cunningham has one daughter, Riley, born in 2018. Her mother’s identity has been kept private. Riley lives mostly in Texas with her mother and members of Cade’s family. His parents, Carrie and Keith Cunningham, and his siblings, Cannen and Kaylyn, stay closely connected to the area and likely provide a strong support system.
In a 2021 interview, Cade shared how much his daughter means to him: “I was away at Montverde when she was born and everything like that, so finally being able to be a little bit closer definitely helped.
“I mean regardless, I know my parents would’ve did whatever it took to close that gap for me but yeah, being a four-hour drive away isn’t too bad for sure. It definitely isn’t too bad and I’ve been super lucky to be able to have her be at a bunch of games and things like that.”
Even though the NBA demands his full focus, he still makes time for Riley. In interviews, he’s called her a major source of motivation. He’s kept her out of the spotlight, but occasionally, he shares moments with her on social media.
Sports Have Been a Big Part of the Cunningham Household
Cade’s mom, Carrie, played pro tennis on the Women’s Tennis Association tour from 1987 to 1994. During her career, she competed at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, and the French Open. Her highest singles ranking was No. 32.
His dad, Keith, played quarterback at Texas Tech University. His football career was cut short by a knee injury. He later coached Cade in youth sports and emphasized discipline and hard work.
Cade has two siblings: his older brother, Cannen, and his sister, Kaylyn. Cannen played college basketball at Southern Methodist University from 2011 to 2015 and served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State during the 2020–21 season.
As for Kaylyn, she’s the one in the family who didn’t go the sports route. She keeps her life private.
