NBA relationships often play out in headlines and social media feeds—but Anthony Davis and Marlen Davis are the opposite. No flashy posts. No drama. Just a strong, private bond that started years ago and keeps growing.
Marlen may stay out of the spotlight, but she’s been there through every big moment—raising their kids, supporting her husband, and keeping things grounded once the cameras turn off.
Marlen and Anthony Davis Began Their Relationship in 2017
Marlen Polanco Davis—also known as Marlen Davis—keeps her life private. She even kept her last name hidden from the public for quite some time.
The couple began dating in 2017. After welcoming their first daughter, Nala, they tied the knot in 2021.
Though Marlen is known for staying off the radar, she made a rare public appearance with Davis at the Vanity Fair red carpet on Feb. 9, 2020. She’s also been one of his biggest supporters. One standout moment came after the Lakers won the 2020 NBA Finals—Marlen was seen in a video with Davis’ parents congratulating him on his first championship ring.
Davis himself keeps his personal life private, but in 2019 he opened up about the importance of family.
“The greatest luxury in life is family. I think no matter what you go through, your family is always going to be there,” Davis said, via Haute Living.
“You can get into it with them—argue, complain, go through a low point in your life, have something great or something bad going on—they’re always going to be there. That’s why I’m big on family. No matter what I do or what I have, I know my family’s not going to change. They’re always going to be there for me. Even when we fuss and fight, I know I can always count on them.”
They Are Raising Three Kids Together
Their love story goes beyond just the two of them—they’re raising three children together. Their oldest, Nala, was born on Nov. 1, 2017. She’s made a few public appearances alongside her dad, including a postgame interview where she sat on his lap. In June 2023, she was seen courtside at a Los Angeles Sparks vs. Chicago Sky game, and the following month, she was spotted again at the WNBA All-Star Game.
The couple also has two younger children. Davis revealed that their second child, a son, was born in June 2021—just before their wedding—and made a public appearance with him in March 2023.
In a 2022 interview with Spectrum News, Davis confirmed they welcomed a third child. When asked about his favorite part of summer, he responded:
“Adding another to the family. A little boy, a girl, and two boys now, so I got a team. Amazing, blessed—kids are a blessing, so I’m happy to have three of them.”
