Which NBA Player Has Been Traded the Most Times in League History?

Trevor Ariza holds the record for being the most-traded player in NBA history with 11 trades.

Dennis Schroder was one of the players who found a new home during the 2026 NBA trade deadline. The guard was part of a three-team trade that sent him and Keon Ellis to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In return, the Sacramento Kings netted De’Andre Hunter, while the Chicago Bulls landed Kings forward Dario Saric and two future second-round picks.

The trade makes Schroder the second-most traded player in NBA history with eight moves. He now has a deal with his 11th team in the league.

He started with the Atlanta Hawks, and later had stints with the OKC Thunder, twice with the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, and the Kings. With this, the focus now shifts to which player had a more journeyman career in the NBA.

Trevor Ariza Holds the Record As the Most-Traded NBA Player

Trevor Ariza isn’t just a former NBA champion. The small forward has bounced from one team to another 11 times in his 18-year career. He began his career with the New York Knicks after being drafted in the second round (43rd overall) in 2004.

He was later traded to the Orlando Magic along with Penny Hardaway in 2007 for Steve Francis. The Los Angeles Lakers were his third team and were dealt for Brian Cook and Maurice Evans.

Ariza had subsequent stops with the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, back to the Rockets, Phoenix Suns, and the Washington Wizards. The move around the league continued with stops at Sacramento, the Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, and once again for the Lakers.

The highlight of his career was winning an NBA championship with Kobe Bryant in 2009. Over the course of his career, Ariza averaged 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 42.2% from the field, 35.1% from the three-point line, and 73.1% from the charity stripe.

His final NBA season was with the Lakers again, and he laced up for 24 games, averaging 4.0 points and 3.4 rebounds. It was a torrid season for the Lakers as they missed the playoffs and ended with a forgettable 33-49 and 11th in the Western Conference.

His best scoring season was with the Rockets during the 2009-10 season, with 14.9 points. His second stint with Houston yielded decent results as he averaged 12.2 points per game in the four seasons.

Other players traded the most apart from Ariza and Schroder include Dan Dickau (8), Dale Ellis (8), Chris Gatling (8), and Don McLean (8).
