Anthony Davis showed his brilliance and capabilities in his debut game for the Dallas Mavericks. However, the forward has been out since that game due to an adductor injury.
As the Mavs prepare to go on a trip facing off the Eastern Conference teams and rekindle their play-in tournament’s hope, will Davis join them?
Latest Return Timeline for Anthony Davis After Debut Injury for the Mavs
While wearing the Mavs jersey for the first time, Davis rocked the American Airlines Center. He dropped 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists on the night before suffering a strained adductor and leaving the game. He has been out of the action since then.
Starting on Monday, the Mavs will play four games on the road. Injuries and trades have depleted the team’s core, setting a gloomy mood in Dallas. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Davis could return to help the Mavericks out on the road.

“[Davis] is in increasingly strong contention to make his return to the floor during the Mavericks’ upcoming swing through the Eastern Conference,” writes Stein.
Despite their victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday, the Mavs have slipped to the 11th spot in the Western Conference, currently out of the play-in tournament range. However, Davis’ return, along with Spencer Dinwiddie’s great outings, means Dallas can claw their way back.

Davis’ return to action might be great, but with Kyrie Irving injured and not expected to be back this season, the Mavs’ playoff ceiling is limited. In such a scenario, fans have argued that Dallas should tank for a better draft pick.
