Is Stephen Curry Playing Tonight? Latest Injury Update On Warriors Star For Timberwolves Game

Stephen Curry landed on the latest injury report as the Warriors keep track of his status for the upcoming game against the Timberwolves.

Stephen Curry finds himself on the latest injury report going into the Golden State Warriors’ matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. How does the status of the veteran superstar guard look for the showdown against Anthony Edwards’ Timberwolves squad?

How Stephen Curry’s Injury Status Looks

Curry is halfway through the 17th season of his remarkable NBA career with the Warriors. He continues to shine as one of the best guards in the league, having won four championships since he entered the league in 2009.

Curry hopes to make one last deep playoff run at age 37, but has seen that possibility get significantly reduced following Jimmy Butler III’s ACL injury. The Warriors acquired Butler from the Miami Heat to give Curry one more chance at competing for a fifth title, but the injury will force Curry and the rest of the team to step up in Butler’s absence.

The Warriors went 0-2 since Butler’s injury against the Heat on Jan. 19, losing games to the Toronto Raptors and Dallas Mavericks. Curry is coming off a 38-point display against Dallas on Jan. 22, showing that the veteran star guard still has the capability to explode with big scoring performances.

However, his availability for the upcoming game against the Timberwolves is confirmed, per reporter Anthony Slater. Curry is available for the contest. Earlier, he was day-to-day with right knee soreness.

What Lies Ahead for Curry and Warriors?

Even with Butler out for the year, the Warriors can still remain in the race for a playoff spot. However, it will require Curry to play at a higher level while remaining healthy for the Warriors. The rest of the Warriors’ roster must step up on the offensive side of the ball to back him up.

Curry continues to be spectacular with his elite shooting ability as one of the best-performing guards this season. He is averaging 27.4 points, 4.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game throughout 36 appearances. He is shooting 47% from the field, including 39.2% from beyond the arc, and 92.8% from the free-throw line. The Warriors are 21-15 in the games Curry plays and 4-6 in the games without his services.

The Warriors have a 25-21 record this season, sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Portland Trail Blazers by 1.5 games and the Los Angeles Clippers by four games. However, they trail the Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers by 2 games.

The Warriors will continue their four-game road trip as they prepare for the second matchup. They face the Timberwolves in a back-to-back on Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. ET and Jan. 26 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
