After 12 years of a fruitful partnership, Stephen Curry decided to part ways with Under Armour in November. The split between both parties came as a shock to many basketball fans.
Steph’s Under Armour signature shoes are some of the most popular pairs of sneakers on the market. However, Curry eventually grew frustrated with the company, feeling undervalued as its star. Since then, Curry has been spotted on numerous occasions wearing different brands of sneakers on the hardwood. In the Golden State Warriors’ most recent outing against the Toronto Raptors, Curry once again paid homage to the late Kobe Bryant.
Stephen Curry Rocks Kobe 11s Against Toronto
The Warriors took on the Raptors on Sunday. Toronto had home-court advantage and managed to beat Golden State in overtime, 141-127. Curry found the appropriate moment to sport another pair of the Black Mamba’s sneakers, wearing Kobe 11 All-Stars, specifically the “Northern Lights” colorway.
According to Sole Retriever, Curry’s footwear choice carries symbolic meaning, as Bryant wore the Northern Lights Kobe 11s during his final All-Star Game in 2016, which was hosted in Toronto.

Back in 2016, Bryant unveiled the colorway during his final All-Star Game appearance. That All-Star Weekend also took place in Toronto. It was Kobe’s way of paying tribute to the city in his last All-Star game.
Fast forward to the present day, and it was as if Bryant was there in spirit as Curry put together a remarkable performance on Sunday. Curry finished with 39 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block. Sadly, it was not enough to put away the Raptors.
The first time Curry rocked a pair of Nike Kobes on an NBA court came the day after he parted ways with Under Armour.
On Nov. 14, the Warriors faced the San Antonio Spurs. During pregame warmups, Curry was spotted wearing a pair of Kobe 6 Protros. Specifically, he wore the “Mambacita” colorway. Steph hit two birds with one stone, honoring both Kobe and his daughter, Gigi Bryant.
The Warriors star has yet to secure a new home for his Curry Brand basketball sneakers. Despite his advanced age, with him turning 38 in March, Curry remains one of the sport’s most influential figures and a globally recognized household name, meaning his next decision will carry significant impact on both the basketball and sneaker industries.
