Warriors Star Stephen Curry Pays Homage In Style to NFL Legend Deion Sanders

Before the latest Warriors game, Stephen Curry paid homage to Deion Sanders, amid ongoing brand uncertainty.

For a couple of months now, Stephen Curry has been wearing different pairs of sneakers outside of his Curry Brand shoes to NBA games. This is due to Curry cutting ties with his former shoe partner, Under Armour.

Since the two parties split, Curry has been spotted wearing notable pairs of kicks, including Nike and Reebok. This time around, the Golden State Warriors star once again spotted wearing a pair of Checks, but this time, it wasn’t basketball shoes.

Stephen Curry is Rocking Football Shoes

The Warriors took on the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. Before the start of the game, Curry came into the arena wearing a pair of “49ers” Nike Air Diamond Turf. The pair was made famous by NFL legend Deion Sanders, as it was his first signature shoe.

Sanders first unveiled the Nike Air Diamond Turf back in 1993. It was designed to be flexible between two sports, such as football and baseball. The pair has a mid-cut design with air cushioning and a prominent strap, built for support on both turf and dirt.

These days, the Diamond Turf 1 is seen as a retro pair of lifestyle shoes that sneaker collectors must have. Depending on where one gets the pair, the Diamond Turf 1 should cost around $150 to $155 retail.

As of this writing, Steph has yet to find a new home for Curry Brand. While the Curry 13s are set to release in February, it’ll be the last line of signature shoes between Under Armour and Curry Brand.

There have been a plethora of rumors that Steph is likely to sign with brands like Nike and Reebok, given how fond the Warriors star is of wearing those two particular brands.

After Curry parted ways with Under Armour in November 2025, the first pair of shoes the star guard wore were a pair of Kobe 6s. He then wore Shaquille O’Neal’s signature shoe with Reebok and even tried sporting a pair of Jordan Brand shoes.

Given the different pairs he’s been wearing in either pre-game warm-ups or in-game, Curry has declared himself the “Sneaker Free Agent.” Some reports suggest that he is likely to sign with a new shoe company after the final wave of Under Armour Curry 13s stops manufacturing, sometime in October.
