Warriors Predicted as Landing Spot In Potential Blockbuster LeBron James Trade For One ‘Last Dance’ With Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors are projected as a potential landing spot for Lebron James in a blockbuster trade that sees the King team up with Stephen Curry.

LeBron James keeps everyone guessing about his future in Los Angeles. At 40, the four-time NBA champion has become the center of trade speculation, with teams across the league trying to figure out how to land the superstar who just exercised his $52.6M player option.

The Golden State Warriors have emerged as the most persistent suitors. They made a run at James before the trade deadline, but couldn’t pull off a deal that would have kept the King in California while changing his address.

With James now officially locked into his player option, the Warriors are back in the mix. Their interest makes sense: Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are running out of time to add another championship, and pairing them with James could create the ultimate super team.

Could LeBron James and Stephen Curry Finally Team Up in Golden State?

NBA analyst Charles Curtis from For the Win broke down the four teams reportedly interested in a potential James trade. The Warriors topped his list, with Stephen Curry and Green desperate for one more championship run.

“The Stephen Curry and Draymond Green core is approaching Last Dance territory,” Curtis wrote. “And we’ve always wanted to see Steph and Bron play in the NBA together. Maybe there’s a trade to be had and LeBron wouldn’t have to leave California. It would make sense if they at least inquired.”

This isn’t the first time Golden State has gone after marquee talent. Earlier in 2024-25, ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that the Warriors made calls for several superstars including Kevin Durant, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler III. They eventually landed Butler with a two-year deal before the trade deadline.

What Would a LeBron James Trade Package Look Like for Golden State?

Any potential deal between the Lakers and Warriors would almost certainly involve Butler as the centerpiece going back to Los Angeles. The logistics remain complicated, but both teams have shown they’re willing to make bold moves.

However, concrete developments have been minimal. The Warriors are focused on how their current core will perform in Butler’s first full season with the team.

Butler’s addition already transformed Golden State into title favorites before Curry’s playoff injury ended their championship hopes. The trio still put up solid numbers throughout the campaign. Curry averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Butler contributed 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists in his 30 games for the Warriors, while Green anchored the defense with 9.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

Meanwhile, James showed no signs of slowing down despite turning 40. He played 70 games in 2024-25 and averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists. Adding him to some form of the Curry-Green-Butler core would make the Warriors instant championship favorites in a loaded Western Conference, assuming everyone stays healthy and the roster depth holds up.

For now, this remains speculation. But with James locked into his player option and the Warriors still hunting for another title, don’t count out this blockbuster possibility becoming reality.
