Warriors Fans in Shambles as NBA Insider Delivers Tough News on Jonathan Kuminga’s Future

Golden State Warriors fans react as recent reports relay disappointing news about Jonathan Kuminga's possible move.

Contrary to the buzz created during the playoffs, a possible Jonathan Kuminga move might no longer be on the horizon.

The Golden State Warriors and Kuminga were at odds after Jimmy Butler III’s trade to the team, the younger forward looking to take his talents elsewhere. However, as the 2025 Free Agency continues, the Warriors have yet to make a move.

Golden State Warriors React to Latest Jonathan Kuminga News

According to the Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Kuminga’s situation is currently at a stalemate. There are no new updates to share, and no proper deal materializing.

“No significant traction on the Jonathan Kuminga front over the weekend, per sources. Restricted free agency around the NBA remains ice cold — conversations and little action. The Kings have been the strongest pursuer of the Warriors’ wing, but nothing has come close,” Slater wrote on X.

Fans had varied reactions to the news; most loyal supporters were just hoping for a quick decision.

“If kuminga is back this team will 100% be a play in team,” one fan wrote.

Many fans, however, had some doubts about the restricted free agency.

“Is Kuminga’s camp reaching out to teams or is it just teams reaching out to him and the warriors? The whole restricted free agency seems weird to me,” one user said.

“Are they aware that they’re the only team that hasn’t made a trade or signing,” another fan wrote.

“If only there was a Warriors ‘Warriors insider’ who reported inside stuff rather than tell us that water is wet,” one fan said.

Some blamed Steve Kerr for the same.

One fan, missing the previous free agency excitement, added: “Late 2010s free agency for the Warriors was entertaining. I miss it the excitement.”

NBA Analyst Believes Warriors Have Advantage in a Possible Kuminga Trade

Before Slater’s update, 95.7 The Game’s host Marc Grandi dissected Kuminga’s situation in Golden State. Despite some interest generated with Kuminga’s move, Grandi believes the Warriors will hold the advantage.

“No team currently has the space to offer him an amount of money that makes GSW uncomfortable matching. Until that changes (a team dumping salary), GSW has ALL the leverage. Only thing that could change that is if Kuminga is willing to accept the QO (qualifying offer),” Grandi wrote on X.

While it might take the Warriors some time to come to a decision, there’s no denying the importance of a possible Kuminga move.

The team’s No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Kuminga, has been an integral part of the roster alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Not only is he a talented playmaker, but he also has valuable playoff experience.

Of course, there’s a possibility that Kuminga resigns with the Warriors before the 2025-26 season begins.

They need to get rid of Steve Kerr and the gm. Neither one of them is doing a good job. The whole front office needs to go.
