Wanda Durant Couldn’t Resist ‘Stealing’ This Jersey

Durant’s mother, Wanda, found herself at the center of a delightful and unexpected moment when a fan showed her KD’s vintage Oak Hill jersey. Just the first sight was enough to send her back to the old days. She could only beam with pride as she said, “Oh my goodness!”, posing for pictures holding it proudly in front of her.

After the pictures, she couldn’t resist the opportunity. She grabbed the jersey and playfully lifted it, making off with it in an attempt to borrow it. Or maybe even ‘borrow forever’.

The incident is captured on video and is going viral, charming all NBA fans across the globe.

Rather than being upset, both the fan and Wanda burst into laughter as she shook her head, with both chasing around each other. Of course, she returned the jersey, but Wanda’s playful energy, her wit, and joyful reaction definitely stole the spotlight.

The Oak Hill jersey holds deep significance for the Durant family. It comes straight from his legendary prep school career, a well-recognized program for producing elite talent and setting the stage for KD’s rise to the NBA.

Mama Durant’s proud face was enough for everyone to understand why KD holds her in such high regard.

What Makes Wanda Durant The Real MVP?

Durant’s career has been nothing short of legendary. He’s won multiple championships, Olympic gold medals, and many MVP honors. Despite all these achievements, he’s made it clear he would be nothing without his mother, Wanda.

In his appearance on the Mind the Game podcast with LeBron James and Steve Nash, Durant opened up about his mother and how she laid the foundation for his future.

“Yeah. It’s my mom’s for sure. I mean, obviously, it’s always going to be your mom’s. Yeah. But it’s like I tune her out at a certain point. You know what I’m saying? So it was for sure. You know, when I look back on it, I for sure appreciated my mom telling me that I was going to be great. But I always knew that. Of course, she’s going to say that.”

This candid sentiment only shows how his mother’s unwavering support backs KD’s greatness.

His famous 2014 MVP speech still resonates with fans and the NBA fraternity. In a heart-touching moment, he thanked his mother for everything. With tears in his eyes, he said, “I don’t think you know what you did. You had my brother when you were 18 years old. Three years later, I came out. The odds were stacked against us. Single parent with two boys by the time you were 21 years old.”

“We wasn’t supposed to be here. You made us believe. You kept us off the street. You put clothes on our backs, food on the table. When you didn’t eat, you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us.”

Wanda sat in the first row as she heard her son, putting up a brave face, nodding and smiling along. KD continued with the authentic tribute of the night. In a wobbly voice, he proclaimed, “You the real MVP.”

In a league full of legends, it’s moments like these that remind us why Kevin Durant’s greatest inspiration was never on the court, but cheering just beyond it.
