With the metaphorical inks still drying on the contract between forward LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers, reactions continue to flow.
Perhaps the most pressing matter and biggest story of the summer just concluded. The 41-year-old James took his time to find the best possible fit.
76ers’ VJ Edgecombe Celebrates LeBron James Signing With Meme Recreation
With teams like the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Cleveland Cavaliers in pursuit, he chose Philadelphia. In the minds of many, the move makes the 76ers a presumptive favorite not only in the Eastern Conference but the NBA itself.
Reactions inside the 76ers locker room continue to pour out. This time, one of the icon’s newest teammates offered his take.
In his first season in the NBA, Edgecombe earned NBA All-Rookie First Team status, averaging 16 points per game, not to mention, starting 11 playoff games. Now that James is officially a member of his team, the former Baylor product took to social media to celebrate.

The photo recreates James’ famous pose, where he shows himself, head tilted, eyes closed, and seemingly enjoying life. For Edgecombe and the 76ers, James signing a two-year deal elicited that feeling.
For the Philadelphia guard, playing alongside James will mean a great deal to him. Last year, Edgecombe discussed what James’ place as his childhood idol means.
“I’m still a kid to be honest. You know, like I said, it’s my one of my, to be honest, like my favorite player growing up. So, one of the reasons I started playing basketball also.”
On paper, the 76ers become one of the strongest starting lineups. Tyrese Maxey is a modern-era point guard who shows a knack for facilitating but can also be a ball-dominant scorer when needed.

Edgecombe is a slasher who continues to work on his outside shot. However, what he currently excels at is attacking the rim, playing downhill. Jaylen Brown left Boston for a more complete franchise while displaying MVP-level skill on both ends of the court.
When healthy, Joel Embiid is a dominant force who can score in the paint and step out to the three-point line. The key for him remains staying as healthy as possible.
Lastly, James, despite his advancing NBA age, still possesses elite court vision, capable of locating teammates cutting to the basket or spotting up behind the arc. Is he the missing piece in Philadelphia? More importantly, how will he and Edgecombe coexist on the court?
