Typically, experience plays a huge factor in the playoffs, something that stands in the way of Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs as they try to make history.
But through the first two rounds, that hasn’t been a problem for the franchise. As they went up 2-1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves behind a masterful performance from their superstar, the rest of the league should already be worried.

Victor Wembanyama Is Exceeding Playoff Expectations
When he first came into the league, the hype around the French-born superstar was out of this world. Because he was seen as the best prospect since LeBron James, many were already predicting a GOAT trajectory for him. At the time, it seemed like little more than hyperbole.
But less than three full seasons in, Wembanyama is already proving to be every bit as amazing as the projections believed. After becoming the first player to win the Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously, he’s only stepped it up in the postseason.
Starting with a 35-point masterclass in his first playoff game, he’s only gotten better.
After advancing past the Portland Trail Blazers, the two-time All-Star set the all-time single-game record for blocks in a playoff game with 12 against the Timberwolves.
Unfortunately, Wemby’s offense struggled as Minnesota stole Game 1 on the road.
However, a blowout in Game 2 was followed by a legendary performance in Game 3. As the series shifted to the Timberwolves’ home arena, Wembanyama was ready for the challenge.
He became the fourth player in NBA history to record 35+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 5+ blocks in a playoff game. From start to finish, he was utterly dominant, finishing the game with 39 points on 18 shots, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks to his credit.
After the game, he was asked about his performance, and Wemby’s passion was infectious. “I’ve really been waiting since I’ve been in the league to live those moments, those high-stakes games. That’s what I love.”

More than his comments, he proved every word in the final period. With the game hanging in the balance, Wembanyama put up 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the fourth quarter.
With the score 102-100 in favor of San Antonio, Wembanyama helped put the game out of reach, giving the Spurs a win. For the three-time blocks leader, the intensity of the game was perfect.
“The feeling I got before games, I don’t know, this heat or this excitement in my heart, it’s even stronger. It got stronger and stronger as the games go on. I’m built for this. I love this more than anything else.”
That excitement has translated to a spectacular third year in the NBA. Making his first playoff appearance, he has already made a name for himself in just seven postseason games.
Now, as he tries to lead the Spurs to a title, the belief is getting stronger by the day that he could achieve what seemed impossible at one point in time.
