‘Ultimate Athletic Choose Your Own Adventure’ — NBA Pundit Reveals LeBron James’ ‘Most Exciting’ Free Agency Destination

An NBA analyst outlines the ideal landing spot for LeBron James as the 22-time All-Star chases a storybook ending to his career.

As LeBron James’ future beyond his landmark 23rd NBA season hangs in the balance, rumors continue to swirl about the four-time MVP’s potential landing spots, should he leave the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.

While a third stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers or a move to the Golden State Warriors are considered James’ likeliest paths, FS1’s Nick Wright views a different team as the “most exciting” option for the future Hall of Famer’s final chapter.

Nick Wright Urges LeBron James To Finish NBA Career With Knicks

James maintained his unprecedented longevity in Year 23, thriving in a reduced role as a Swiss Army knife complementary player before stepping back into a primary role in the playoffs in the absence of superstar teammate Luka Dončić (hamstring).

Behind his signature well-rounded play, James willed the Lakers to the second round of the postseason, where they were abruptly swept by the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

With James eyeing a prime chance to win his fifth title if he runs it back for Year 24, Wright believes the 41-year-old should head East and join the New York Knicks.

The third-seeded Knicks are currently riding a seven-game playoff winning streak as they await their Eastern Conference finals opponent. According to Wright, should they eventually come up short against a team like OKC, James could put them over the top next season.

“This is the ultimate athletic kind of choose your own adventure,” Wright began on Tuesday’s edition of “First Things First.”

“… The ultimate legacy play is to go to the New York Knicks and try to win a championship, assuming they don’t win the title this year. … He can go there, and if they were to win, get celebrated as the [missing] piece.”

Despite its rabid fan base, New York hasn’t won a championship since 1973, potentially offering James a storybook ending to his illustrious career. Wright also foresees the Lakers and Knicks being able to strike a sign-and-trade deal to bring the 22-time All-Star to the Big Apple.

“There’s a very easy way to make that work as far as where he can get paid somewhat because it’d probably have to be a sign-and-trade for Mikal Bridges or a sign-and-trade for OG Anunoby, or something like that, who both would fit with the Lakers great,” Wright predicted.

The analyst added that New York represents the “most exciting” destination for James as well as the team that would give him the “best chance to win a championship.”

James could form one of the league’s premier offensive trios alongside Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, bringing veteran savviness and versatility to New York.

Still, defense could be a question mark, especially if Anunoby’s two-way prowess heads to LA in the possible league-altering move.
