After playing two seasons for the Phoenix Suns, Bradley Beal is now suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers. While moving to the Clippers was a decision that should have helped him fit in better, Beal hasn’t exactly proved to be efficient for his new team.
Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue spoke his mind on Beal’s slow start and whether he believes the guard can make a comeback.
Tyronn Lue Shares His Thoughts on Bradley Beal
Beal isn’t having the season many expected with the Clippers. Coming into the team, there were expectations that he could help Kawhi Leonard and James Harden elevate Los Angeles. However, looking at his first four games suiting up for the Clippers, his performance has been underwhelming.
As of his fourth game, against the Miami Heat on Monday, Beal is averaging 8.0 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 rebounds. His numbers are far from impressive, which is why some are now questioning if he’s a good fit for the Clippers.
Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue shared his honest thoughts on Beal and how he thinks the guard can bounce back from his slump.
“I think physically (Bradley Beal) can definitely (bounce back up),” Lue said. “Just the minutes that he’s going to be playing, I don’t think he’s going to score 35 or 40 (points). But you know, the most important thing is that he feels better. He’s slowly working towards where he’s trying to get to. … Just stacking games, stacking days.”
Asked Tyronn Lue if Bradley Beal can be the player the Clippers need him to be.
TL;DR: Yes, but not with the minutes he’s on right now. (so… no.)

Beal is coming off knee surgery, which he had back in May. Last season, when he was still playing for the Suns, Beal hurt his knee, which led to inflammation and required immediate medical attention.
He had the entire summer to rest and recover, but the Clippers are being cautious with Beal’s workload.
Similar to how the Clippers treat Leonard, Beal is currently undergoing knee injury management, which means there will be games he will miss. On top of that, his minutes will be reduced for a while until the team is confident he can handle a heavier workload. Until then, fans shouldn’t expect much from Beal in terms of performance.
