It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.
Should you draft Tyrese Maxey this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Philadelphia 76ers Point Guard.
Should You Draft Tyrese Maxey in Fantasy Basketball?
Can you name the three players that ranked top 15 in drives per game and averaged at least 0.70 points scored per drive last season?
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did it on his way to an MVP last season and Cade Cunningham is a first rounder in nearly all formats.
Maxey is the other.
The statistical profile is sound. He’s over three assists-per-turnover for his career and there’s almost no fat to skim off the shot map (88.5% of his shots came inside of 10 feet or behind the 3-point line last year).
The only problem in considering Maxey in the second round is the team he plays for.
How many games does Joel Embiid play? What about Paul George? Does the VJ Edgecombe learning curve take two weeks? Two months? Two years?
If you want to take a Steph Curry/James Harden ahead of Maxey because you think there’s less risk, I don’t have a problem with it, but I have Maxey’s projectable 2025-26 ceiling as higher than both of those future Hall of Famers.
