Tyler Herro Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Heat Star’s Recovery, and When Will He Return?

Tyler Herro’s recovery has reached a key point, and the Miami Heat are preparing for what comes next. Here’s the latest on his status.

The Miami Heat may soon get a major boost at a time when their momentum is already growing. The team has climbed steadily in the standings (11-6) and found ways to win without one of its most important players, Tyler Herro. Now, just as the Heat look to extend their strong start, there’s finally a positive update on Herro’s return timeline.

Tyler Herro Expected to Make Season Debut on Monday

According to Shams Charania, Tyler Herro is planning to make his season debut on Monday, Nov. 24, when the Heat host the Dallas Mavericks, assuming there are no setbacks. Charania reported on X that Herro has been progressing well after undergoing ankle surgery in late September.

“Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro plans to make his season debut on Monday against the Dallas Mavericks at home, barring setback,” Charania wrote. “Herro underwent ankle surgery in late September and now returns to a Heat team that improved to 11-6 after its fourth straight win.”

Herro has missed every game of the 2025–26 season so far due to surgery for posterior impingement syndrome in his left ankle.

The procedure was performed on Sept. 19, and his recovery has stretched a little over two months as the Heat kept him out to ensure full stability and long-term readiness.

Heat’s Strong Start Makes Herro’s Return Even More Promising

The Heat have handled his absence better than many expected. They sit fourth in the league with an 11-6 record, showing impressive balance on both ends. The team’s 127–117 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, Nov. 22, pushed them to their fourth straight victory.

Role players and veterans have stepped up throughout this stretch. Norman Powell (25.4 ppg), in particular, has taken on a major scoring load. He has been the team’s leading scorer in nine of their 17 games so far, giving the offense a steady option while Herro recovered.

Bam Adebayo (19.5 ppg) has also kept the Heat anchored defensively while providing consistent production.

But the return of Herro adds a different level of firepower. Last season, he averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, helping the Heat reach the playoffs for the sixth straight year. The Heat drafted him 13th overall in 2019, and he has since become one of their most reliable offensive engines and a key late-game playmaker.

The next matchup for Erik Spoelstra and company is against the spiraling Mavericks, who have struggled to a disappointing start.

While the Mavericks still have talent, their inconsistency (5-13 record) gives the Heat a favorable environment for Herro’s return. It’s an opportunity for him to ease back into game rhythm while the team looks to stretch its winning streak and strengthen its position in the standings.
