Jimmy Butler III is coming back to Miami. The former small forward created a lot of drama with his trade request and the suspensions before he left Florida to join the Golden State Warriors.
Butler’s return has excited Miami Heat fans, but their shooting guard Tyler Herro is brushing off his former teammate’s impending arrival and doesn’t shy away from taking a dig at him.
Tyler Herro Has Bigger Fish To Fry Than Jimmy Butler III With Heat Hosting Warriors
Butler arrived in Miami in 2019 and showed off his skills and persona. However, their relationship ended in February on a sour note, as he was eventually traded to the Warriors.
Miami, on the other hand, snapped its 10-game losing streak thanks to the on-court efforts from Andrew Wiggins and Herro. After the game, the 25-year-old Herro downplayed Butler’s return, saying he was focused on more important things.
“It’ll be fun, I think. It’s another game for us, honestly,” he said after defeating the Charlotte Hornets 122-105. “We just came off a 10-game losing streak. We’ve got bigger things to worry about at this point. We just need to win games. Obviously, Jimmy’s coming back here, but it’s a regular game.”

With a 30-41 record, the Heat are currently the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference and fighting for its playoff spot. The Warriors, meanwhile, are the No. 6 seed in the West with a 41-30 record and also have a playoff battle on their hands. Odds are that Golden State will remain in the playoffs, but its landing spot as far as the NBA standings go, remains to be seen.
Butler Echoes Herro’s Sentiment on His Miami Return
After losing to the Atlanta Hawks 124-115, the Warriors forward talked to the media about being traded from Miami and his upcoming return.
“Yeah, I was traded from there, yada, yada, yada,” Butler said.
“Yeah, it didn’t end the way that people wanted to, yada yada yada. But that’s so far behind me now. I don’t even think about it. I don’t pay attention to nothing except for the trajectory of this squad.”
“Not really, don’t make no difference,” he added on the effect that the Heat fans would have on him during the game. “I’m a member of the Golden State Warriors. I love that fan base. They showed me a lot of love while I was there. But I’m here to win now. I’m on the opposing team.”
The Heat will welcome the Warriors to the Kaseya Center on Tuesday, March 25, in a highly anticipated matchup.
